We have to have a minivan, therefore I don't want to use EA. My question is, if I choose not to join EA and a 3 day weekend special shows closer to when we rent on their homepage, am I eligable without belonging to EA or are they only for EA members? I don't really want to bother signing up for EA as we normally never rent cars and this is really out of the ordinary for us. Anyone know?

I would still get an Emerald Club card, there isn't that much to it. You can reserve a mini-van through Emerald Reserve and still skip the counter. The line at the counter can be a pain when you are anxious to start your vacation. Sometimes the Emerald Club contract code can give you a good discount. On my last rental, it gave me the best discount until I heard about the priceless code at the last minute.

If the special is listed on the home page you can use it. If it is for EA members only it will make you sign in, that rarely, if ever happens, btw.
