National Lampoon's Fun w/Dis Friends 2010!! ~ DAY 7-Final :( 6/27

You're right -- there are no crock pots or rice cookers in the villas. Good idea to bring your own. Sounds like a good meal.

You'll have fun walking around and checking out Kidani!

It will be a good meal and an EASY one!! :thumbsup2
I can't wait to see all of AKL...or as much of it as we can. We have friends who are there right now. She sent pics of the view from her room. NICE!!! They did a split stay and are now at Saratoga. This is their first DVC trip too.

Awesome idea to have your meals cooking while you're gone! Very smart thinking!

I have 3 meals planned at AK, I hope that's enough time to really check out that amazing looking resort at least a little. :thumbsup2

Well, I knew we wanted to start cooking our own meals because of DS's food allergies and just to see if we like it better or not. I wanted to make it as easy as possible.

I can't wait to check out AKL. I plan on taking lots of pics....as usual.

Ok, so I have been slacking on updates and my whole "in 2 weeks" thing. This week DS has been doing swim lessons. I was nervous about whether or not he'd remember anything from last summer since we haven't been in a pool since August 2009! He was nervous at first but it turns out he remembers a lot of it. He started on Monday. The classes are only 30 minutes long. Yesterday, only 3 days in, he jumped into the deep end and swam diagonally across length wise for 1/2 of the pool doing the front crawl, grabbed the wall for a quick break, then swam diagonally the other half back to the stairs doing the breast stroke. Half way through the 2nd half he got tired, rolled on to his back for a break, then rolled back over and finished the lap. This was all unassisted!!! I can't tell you how proud I am of him. :cloud9: He is turning into a little fishy! Just keep swimming...swimming...swimming.....

So, 2 weeks from today we will be at Typhoon Lagoon!! (Weather permitting, of course. You know how that goes in the south!!) I'm thinking this year at the water park and pool will be a lot more fun now that he can swim. He is still not 100%. I wouldn't want him jumping off of the diving board or sliding down a big waterslide all by himself but he's definitely getting there.

I'm hoping to have an update done on this TR today!!! Stay tuned. .......

very good idea on bringing your own crock pot. i also like the rice and gravy but dont hardly haveit, will have to have it sometimes soon does sound good.

Sorry, I guess my multi-quote missed this one!

Crock pots make things so much easier!

Your son is going to have a blast swimming at the resorts this year! I bet you'll have trouble getting him to go to the parks.

On Day 5 we woke up early so that we could meet up with Jordan, Rosie, & Cherie/Djay at DHS!! We were there for rope drop and it was COLD that morning. We met up with Jordan and Rosie in line at the turnstyle. Once through, I quickly grabbed a stroller and we all ended up on the main street together waiting for the rope drop show to start. Suddenly, there was a voice behind me asking if we were from the Dis and if we were Blueyed Girl & Jordan, Winkers, & Rosie! We all turned around slightly stunned and met fellow Diser "MyTalula"!!!! She told me she recognized me from my "dancing Pictures" on Jordan's pre-trip report. I looked at my DH and he just shook his head at me and said something to the effect of "uh-hu!! ya see!!" :rotfl2: AH, WHATEVER!! I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little shocked that after all this time on the Dis I was recognized because of those photo's! :lmao: If you weren't on Jordan's PTR during the dance photo craze, here is the link to my dance pic contribution.....

Anyhoo, we had a good time visiting with her and took a few pictures but for some reason NONE of them were with MY camera! Bummer! When the rope dropped we all stuck together and did the fast walk through the crowd to get to Toy Story Mania! Jordan and I got the fastpasses and then we met up with the rest of the group in the stand-by line. Here are a few pictures from our time in line and the ride....

After our ride, the group decided to see what the standby line was like at RockNRollercoaster! Along the way, we met up with Wendy,Derek and the kids. About that time Chip & Dale came out for pics & autographs! The kids ran over to get a pic taken with them. They had such a good time together! Next time maybe we will all be there when it's warmer and the kiddo's can all play together at the pool or something. I just can't stress how much fun it was to be there the same time as other people you know. Even if you don't spend every moment together, it's nice to have someone to meet up with from time to time and share in the fun!

The line at RNRC was not long at all. Jordan, Cherie(winkers) and I rode together and then DH rode with DJay, I think?? Or maybe Jordan rode a 2nd time. I can't remember. Here is mine, Jordan, & Cherie's picture from RNRC...... (i'm posting this one larger since I had rednecked it...)
4665966095_d0e1cc6fb4_b.jpg

How's that for excitement???!!!! :rotfl2: We had a blast. The anticipation of the take off always makes me nervous but once it takes off, I LOVE THIS COASTER!!!

After RNRC, we all had a conversation about my fear of riding Tower of Terror. Cherie had been calling me out on it since our PTR's. I told myself to be brave and I told them I would ride it for the first time EVER with them. DH laughed because he knows how terrified I am of drops like that. So, DH and Jordan stayed with the kids, while myself, Cherie, DJay, Wendy, Derek, Kim & Alan rode ToT. I snapped a few pics from the line but I've got to tell you, I was so nervous, I don't even remember doing it. I'm shocked that they came out clear enough to see.

Ok so we weren't in line a terribly long time but long enough to have a couple of conversations and I think Derek took some pictures but I can't remember anything we said because I was so nervous! The only thing I do remember is that Kim said she wasn't fond of this ride either and that she was scared too! So, finally it is our turn. We get in and I'm all the way on the right side in the very front. I have a handle on the wall next to me and one on the seat between me and Cherie. As I tried to wrap my hands around the handles as tight as I could, I think I remember telling Cherie something along the lines of "I'm not trying to grab your butt, I'm trying to HOLD ON!!" :rotfl2: I will tell you here that this may very well ALL be on VIDEO!!!! Cherie had her camera set to video and pointed it at me the entire time of the ride. :scared1: How she held her composure to do such a thing is beyond me. We were DROPPING and being SUCKED BACK UP by odd forces. :rolleyes1 Let me just say that I am SUPER PROUD of myself for riding this but will probably not be doing it again. During all the ups and downs there was one part when I was screaming my head off and I felt something FLY IN MY MOUTH!!! I start spittin' and sputterin' and yell out....."AAAHHH, SOMETHING JUST FLEW IN MY MOUTH!!!!" We were in pitch darkness. I think I recall everyone laughing at me. Just then....we were sucked back up toward the top and the door opens to let in the sunlight. That's when I noticed the strings from my hoodie jacket hovering right in front of my face.....THANK GOD!! That's what flew in my mouth. Eventually the "FUN" was over and me and my wobbly knees exited the ride and purchased THIS picture......
4667521210_99f7cb578a_b.jpg

Ok, ok.... laugh all you want! For the record, I was scared as hell but I WAS NOT crying. I just look like I am. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Seriously, it really wasn't THAT bad. Just not really my cup of tea.

After my ride, it was DH and Jordan's turn. Winkers decided to take another ride along with them. This was their photo.....
4666900673_67b58fec81.jpg

They tried to gang up and pretend like this ride was no big deal by looking bored on the ride. That HAD to be hard to do. I mean...COME ON!!!

Up next.......lunch at 50's primetime and a bad reaction!

OMG the ride pictures were PRICELESS!!!

I loved the RnRC one.

The TOT one with you is freaking hilarious Cherie, seriously funny, thanks so much for posting it.

The one with DJay Cherie, and Jordan was so cute looking bored, I do have to ask, what is that guy in front of Jordan doing :rolleyes1?

Oh NOOOO!

:lmao: Really, I did sort of laugh at myself in between screams of terror!!! I can't wait to see or hear the video Winkers has of the ride.

I'm so proud of you for riding Tower of Terror. It is my all time favorite thrill ride at Disney but I know it's not for everyone. The picture is hilarious! I love the Cherie is taping you and Derek has his camera up too. I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face on this ride. I smile from ear to ear the entire time.

RnRC I don't do. I'm not scared of it but it messes with my equilibrium. Love the take off but not the loops in the dark.

I laughed so hard at that picture that i had to buy it! They had a special buy 1 get 1 free so I did the 2 5x7's and ended up with 4 which was enough for everyone to have one. :thumbsup2

If you look at everyone's face individually it makes it even more funny. Some are having so much fun, some are nervous, some look sick, and some are just plain out terrified! I love looking at people's ride photos. There is never a time where I don't laugh. :rotfl:

But....my assessment of the ride was that it turned out to be no big deal. My imagination was much worse than what it turned out to actually be.

I will tell you here that this may very well ALL be on VIDEO!!!! Cherie had her camera set to video and pointed it at me the entire time of the ride. :scared1:

Thanks about DS too. I'm super proud of him! Can't wait to put those skills to use at WDW.

When I left off we had all finished our ride on ToT. Now it was time for Jordan and DH to ride RNRC since DH hadn't been able to ride it before. Apparently I mixed that up in my last installment. :confused3 Anyhoo, it ended up being myself, DS and Winkers sitting on a bench waiting. DS got to enjoy a Mickey Bar because it was starting to warm up a little. About that time, Winkers and I spot a strange looking man coming out of Beauty and the Beast. He had one of those really long moustaches that curl up into a circle on the ends. HOWEVER, upon closer inspection, we realize that it isn't real!! Our minds were boggled while we were laughing really hard over it. We saw him coming back and I believe Winkers got a picture of him. I totally missed it because I was getting DS's Mickey bar. The moustache was DRAWN ON HIS FACE!!! :confused3 You really just never know what you are going to see at WDW. We had a good giggle over that before the guys came back.

4666588616_6b7681a22e.jpg

After this myself, dh, & ds head over to 50's Primetime Cafe' for lunch!! This is one of our faves. We do it almost every trip. I love the pot roast!!! As usual, the Chef came out because we needed to speak to him about DS's food allergies. We told him about the Peanuts and Pea's allergy and we told him basically "legumes". He assured us that the pasta marinara with grilled chicken was fine for DS so that's what we got him. WRONG!!!!! In a few minutes I started seeing redish blotches around his mouth and chin. I told DH but DH kept telling me I was being paranoid. ***NOTE TO HUSBANDS....DON'T EVER TELL YOUR WIFE SHE IS BEING PARANOID OVER THE KIDS*** Luckily, DS said he didn't like it and only ate about 4 bites. He started eating his fruit instead. DH kept saying the red was from the coldness of the fruit. We argued back and forth a little which annoyed me. Then I made DS come sit by me for dessert. He got vanilla icecream with sprinkles that were safe for him. By the time the ice cream came out I started noticing the white welts coming out inside the red blotches. I took him to the bathroom to check out the rest of his body but I saw nothing. I asked him if he was itchy and he said his mouth was a little itchy. I gave him the full dose of Benadryl and when we came out of the bathroom, the Chef was at our table swearing to me that there wasn't anything in the food. That annoyed me too because it was now a production and everyone was staring. I told them that I gave him benadryl and will continue to watch him as I think he will be ok since he only had a few bites. (Luckily for us, it takes him a couple of bites before he starts to have a reaction. There are some people who can't even be in the same room as their food allergy!) I took him out front and sat on a bench. The spots weren't getting any worse and after a couple of minutes they started to lighten. He wasn't having any other symptoms so I didn't call for the Medic's. He ended up being fine but by the time you realize that, you are so wound up that you end up breaking down. Once I saw that everything was going away and he was fine I told DH I had to go to the bathroom. I went in there and cried. This whole food allergy thing scares the crap out of me. This incident just goes to show you.....YOU JUST NEVER KNOW!! He is going to have to watch this for the rest of his life. That scares the crap out of me too. What's going to happen when he is in high school or college and with his friends. What if someone decides they don't like him one day and just puts it in the food?? You just NEVER KNOW. I try hard not to let myself think things like that but every now and then they creep in. :sad2: Anyway, getting back on topic.... I will go ahead and tell you this part now rather than waiting until I get to our Kona Cafe' day......The next night we had dinner at Kona Cafe'. We again spoke to the chef and we also told him what happened at 50's. We told him what he ate and he IMMEDIATELY asked us if it had the elbow macaroni pasta in it. We said YES!!! He said...."It has chick pea flour in it". He automatically knew that!! So, now I have 2 favorite Chef's at WDW. One in O'hana and one at Kona! I don't have my notes so I can't remember names but I did write them down.

So, moving on..... after the food allergy debacle we stopped at a kiosk and DH was looking at some things. We bought him a stuffed Chip & Dale and a bubble gun from the store under the big hat. At this point we decided to just take it easy so we went for a ride on The Great Movie Ride.....slow moving and it takes a little while. After this we watched Lights, Motor, Action! Extreme Stunt Show.

After our Karate session we said our goodbyes and everyone went their own way. We headed over to use a fastpass that we had gotten earlier for Star Tours. This was DS's first ride on Star Tours. He LOVED it!! He also loved walking through the line even though we were a little rushed by people behind us.

I believe this was our last ride of the day. We then headed out to relax and get freshened up for our dinner at Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club!! :thumbsup2

Up Next.....dinner at the Yacht Club, a stroll down the boardwalk, & DVC sucks us in......

oh wow. So glad his reaction to the food was not worst :goodvibes

Love the Karate pics....though in the one with Winkers, Jordan and you, it looks more like Jordan is getting his groove on :lmao:

Kudos for DS trying Star Tours. So glad he enjoyed it :thumbsup2

What a scary lunch! Your DS is very lucky your so alert to what is going on. Shame on the Chef for missing this.

I'm glad you afternoon got back on track after the horror of lunch. The pictures by the laundry are a hoot.

I'm sorry your son had a reaction at 50's Prime Time. Shame on that chef for not knowing what kind of flour the macaroni was made out of. Your husband sounds just me the first time my wife took our oldest daughter to the emergency room for an asthma attack. :rolleyes1 Okay, okay, she was right that time. It must be a "guy thing". "I'm okay -- it's only a flesh wound". And regarding food allergy attacks....we have a story to share with you when we meet up. (Have no fear, it has a happy ending.)

***NOTE TO HUSBANDS....DON'T EVER TELL YOUR WIFE SHE IS BEING PARANOID OVER THE KIDS***

Yes I have a husband that does the same thing. Yes " It's Okay... it's only a flesh wound. Great Monty Python reference. We use it around here often.
The allergy stories I could tell.... mine is now 19 and really grew out of the bad ones. We had a rough couple of years but she can feel it coming on early and knows what to do.

Love the Karate pics....though in the one with Winkers, Jordan and you, it looks more like Jordan is getting his groove on :lmao:

Kudos for DS trying Star Tours. So glad he enjoyed it :thumbsup2

I'm glad it wasn't too bad. It was enough to make me so paranoid that I started packing his lunch for the rest of the trip. I'll get to that later...

:rotfl2: It does sort of look like Jordan is busting out some of his moves!

He's been talking about ST ever since. He says he's going to ride that and dinosaur again this trip.

What a scary lunch! Your DS is very lucky your so alert to what is going on. Shame on the Chef for missing this.

I'm glad you afternoon got back on track after the horror of lunch. The pictures by the laundry are a hoot.

I am so paranoid about it that I watch him eat. After 15 minutes I calm down a bit. <---this is now mostly just when we go out to eat somewhere.

The thing about the Chef missing that is what scares me the most. If I can't be the one reading all of the ingredients then I'm basically putting it in someone elses hands and I don't like that at all.

:rotfl2: Yeah, I know most husbands are that way. It's a guy thing. I'll have to make sure to remind you to tell me the allergy story.

Huh? What? Who, me?

:rotfl2:

Yep, I see 'em.

This looks like some kind of weird promo pic for "Charlie's Angels". :rotfl2:

:lmao: It does! Oh I wish I would have thought of Charlie's Angels. We could have put a whole new spin on the pics.
Awesome! :lmao:

Speaking of which....I see you added Old Key West to your signature. Did you add-on already?

No, we did NOT add on already. We are still recovering from the initial purchase. :lmao: We just love OKW. We've stayed there every single trip but one since DS has been born. I would have liked to get my points at OKW just because but they weren't offering the promo for OKW. Anyway, my point is...I love OKW and I feel like over the past 6 years I've given them PLENTY enough money to add a pic of it to my siggie. Points or no points. :thumbsup2

That is the next "theme"pictures you need !!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

A case of addonitis????? Do tell.

I sure hope my DS grows out of most of it too. I was thinking about all of it today and I was hoping that as he gets older he will be able to identify early on that he is having a reaction before it gets too bad.

Ok, Glenn and Dan.....Charlie's Angels themed pictures this trip! :rotfl:
