Just back, we rented 2 cars on Emerald Aisle, we could not get a good minivan rate. All went well, but I was surprised all the PT Cruisers were on the full size aisle.......... I ended up with a 4 door Pontiac Grand Am, and my husband took a 2 door sedan, I forget the name.......... it had a huge trunk, though. We both took red, made them easier to find. We picked them up early on Friday, Hurrican Charley day......... and thankfully neither was hit by a tree during the storm, in the Universal parking lot at Royal Pacific Resort.

Thanks to this board for all the great information. I still find the best deals on National, using Emerald Club.

Yes, Last time we were there, for various reason we had to do a car "swap" at National at the Dolphin. I returned a PT Cruiser and said I'd be glad to get a full size. When they told me the PT Cruiser WAS full size I couldn't believe it. Personally I think that's really a stretch because I do not belive that you could fit 5 people and all the luggage they say in a PT Cruiser.

unless it has changed within the last year, when we rented the PT it was classed as ....

Vehicle Info:
Model: PT CRUISER
License #: W66GMH

Vehicle Class Driven: Intermediate 2/4 Door Car Auto A/C

Vehicle Class Charged: Intermediate 2/4 Door Car Auto A/C

State/Province: FL
Miles/Kms Driven: 422.00

Miles/Kms Out: 1595.00
Miles/Kms In: 2017.00

so yes if it is now classed as a Full size that is a stretch, since the car is based on the NEON frame which is compact....

A PT cruiser a Full Size? I am with Lawgs on this one. That is true stretch. It is, IMHO, an underpowered, ugly piece of junk with absolutely no appeal to me at all.

You took the words right out of my mouth! ::yes::

In April, the cruisers were on the Emerald Aisle, as intermediates. Thats why I was surprised to see them all over the full size aisle this time.

If this is my first time using National's Emerald service, do I still need to stop at the counter?

maraakl

ugly piece of junk

now that is a pretty harsh "opinion"

we happen to drive one

you suggest we drive "ugly junk"

Nope, not at all. You drive what appeals to you. It does not appeal to me in the least.

maraakl

would not say anything about your accord ( by the way we have owned accords for years, but after the accident they did not have an accord offering that would suit our needs thus we went to PT Cruiser ) or miata either

that makes more sense saying " it does not appeal to you"....just thought your "ugly junk" was a lil harsh

thanks for your clarification

your time clock looks good

10 days 14 hrs. 50 mins. 25 secs.

thank you for editing your original comment on PT cruisers, that was very considerate on your part adding that it is "your humble opinion" and not necessarily a consensus view

All this bantering over the PT Cruiser, the car doesn't do anything for me, is sidestepping the real question. Is National now classifying cars they used to consider intermediate as full size? This is of particular concern now that the availability of free upgrades in the regular EA seems to be diminished.

A few years ago EA customers could reserve and pay for an intermediate and receive a full size car. Now we can reserve and pay for a full size car and get an intermediate car? My loyalty to National is rapidly disappearing.

Lewis,
Since the sale of Alamo and National to the present corporation, I have seen many changes that are not very positive.

That's pretty sad if National is considering a PT a full size car. It is built on the Neon platform which is (at least the last time I checked) a compact car.

Just back and EA was only Intermediates. I saw lots of PT Cruisers on the Executive Aisle.:(

You think that's bad......!!! Enterprise gave us one 2 years ago when we rented an SUV!!!!! GRRRRRRR....................double GRRRRRRR........

I don't care what aisle they are on....I NEVER wish to rent one again....my kids nor myself cared for it at all.

I hope the aisle has something on it with room for our luggage. I'm glad to see folks posting what's there...it's very helpful!

happy trails,
Esmerelda
