National Cheeseburger Day, free or cheap burgers

Yeah, it annoys me that you can't get any fast food deals anymore without using the restaurant's stupid app.

And don't even get me started on the self-ordering kiosks.
Or the tip suggestions at the self ordering kiosks . . .

um, its 21st century, you can do it.
Yeah, it's not that I CAN'T do it. :rolleyes2 I just don't like doing it. It takes longer to have to tap through 500 different screens that I don't need (you want to customize? you want extra cheese? you want any sauce? blah blah) to order than if I just go to the counter and tell the employee what I want in three seconds. And then if you're paying with cash you have to go up to the counter to complete the transaction anyway. To me it is an example of technology just for technology's sake, offers no real benefit other than giving restaurants the ability to hire less employees.

The other day I went to Taco Bell and for the first time, they were forcing everyone to use the order kiosk. There were other people there who were not happy about it either, but whatever. This is the direction fast food wants to go now.

BTW, I entered everything right when I punched in my order and they still got my order wrong. I don't think I've ever gotten a screwed up order at fast food before (Crazy, I know, but true. Maybe because I never special order anything).

Isn't that a huge benefit when workers are costing them $50 an hour after you add the salary, social security, taxes, overhead, vacation, sick leave costs?

I generally don't like having to download apps for every place I go, bit sometimes I do like self-checkout. I'm slowly adjusting to the 21st century.

So true. The Taco Bell Quesarito became exclusive to the app. It's the only thing I wanted to get (now it's no longer offered).

I hear stories of people being told to use the kiosk even when there's few customers and an employee at the counter. Not sure how accurate that is, but I can imagine corporate wants people using these to justify the costs of installing them to begin with.

50 cents for a McD's double cheeseburger
1 cent for a Wendy's bacon cheeseburger, with any other purchase
BK, free cheeseburger with a dollar or more other purchase. (plus other deals during the week)

All require the apps.

Enjoy a cheap, healthy lunch.

I had to laugh, healthy? I always thought most people didn't think McD's and the rest as healthy. They do task good but I'm not sure it's the best choice one could make.

If all of those people say ok, never mind I will just go somewhere else I bet they would change their tune real fast. I do agree that this is being done so they can work with less employees and I guess in some ways I don't blame them even though I don't like the trend either.

This thread is worthless without a decent cheeseburger. I give you, the Molly Hatchett, Grill -em-All burger, Alhambra CA;

I also refuse to download any fast food apps. All they want to be able to do is gather up your email/cell phone # so they can sell it to mass marketers to fill up your phone with useless ads/junk mail......................no thanks !!! If I can't order at the drive-thru without having some app................then I find somewhere else to eat.

Kiosks seem to be hit/miss. Can recall stopping somewhere at a rest stop on the freeway and I never saw anyone use the kiosk. Seems most people found it easier to order from a real person at the counter. Every fast food place probably has different menus on their kiosk. By the time you learn where everything is, seems just more convenient/faster to order at the counter.
