Nasty weather in Peterborough (updated: pictures from Wendy)

I hear Peterborough was hit with a nasty storm last night? Did any of our DIS compatriots get flooded out? How bad was it?

We live on a hill, so far our basement is ok!!

I work in the mall, it is closed, as part of the roof collapsed. One of the Nursing homes has been evacuated, due to roof collapse.

The rain is still coming down very hard, so who knows....

I have the day off and am keeping my daughter home, even though her gymnastic club is open, I am worried about picking her up later.

Wish us luck and I know there are other Peterborough members. Hope all is well with them.

Okay Here!

We are in the west end, but at the bottom of a hill. Our house is Ok,but I'm concerned for my next door neighbors house, she's on vacation and I can't get into her house.

I’m also going to call hockeymom & see if they're ok...

The Mayor has called a state of emergency

My parents live in the north end but at the top of a hill. I used to curse riding up that hill every day on my bike, but it has sure helped them stay dry! Hope they are wrong in the forecast of more rain tonight!

MaMudDuck - where in West end are those photo's? Out by Crestwood?? I can't image the worst sections of town if those photo's aren't bad.

Those pictures are up near the Zoo in the northend- New subdivision at Centre Line Smith & Water (ha!- Water)

Downtown was the worst, a friend living at Parkhill & Chemong basement has 6feet of water in her basement. Her washer & dryer are floating around down there.

Landsdowne Mall- Loblaws roof fell in.

It's a mess!

Wendy - I think I know that new subdivision where you took those photos...that hill I grew up on is Cumberland Ave and isn't that subdivision at the bottom of Cumberland! I was watching CHEX news tonight on satellite TV and can't believe the sheer amount of water everywhere! I also can't believe Peter Filkowski is still doing the weather either - he was doing it 25 years ago when I lived there too! Jo

Glad to hear everyone is OK in Peterborough...we got a lot of rain here in Caygeon and the water is pretty high, but not overflowing or backing up drains...thanks hockey mom for keeping our glasses dry ...check your pm's....

Rain, rain go away.........

We made it through the night with only two wet spots in the basement and a tiny leak in the roof, unfortunately its on Kath's side of the bed.

I was part way to work on the 115 this morning before I was aware that the City had declared a state of Emergency.

We went out tonight with the kids and a friend of Michael's to celebrate her birthday. On the way hone we found that Ashburnham is still closed and underwater at Beavermead.

Just keeping our fingers crossed, approximately 200ml of rain and possibly another 50 ml overnight.

I keep wondering who this "MLEO" was but the Kathy & Michael gave it away.

Joanne- That's the subdivision on the other side of Cumberland, You can see the Little Fire Station on Centre Line out the back of DF's windows. Way behind the dog swimming in the "puddle". On the pic on the bottom- the 3 cars parked together are sitting in the zoo parking lot. The first one is right at Cumberland & Centre

I saw some of the damage on the news last night, what a MESS... It was a little disturbing to see kids on inner tubes floating in the streets, especially since they were saying that the water is contaminated!!

Wendy, your poor friend! I would be freaking with that much water in my basement!

I'm glad everyone is okay, and hope it stays that way!

Len, great to "see" you here! I'm glad you guys are okay! Of course, your going to trade sides of the bed with Kathy, right?

LOL Kim! Thankfully the leak is actually between my side of the bed and the dresser, so I didn't get wet, just driven nuts by the dripping sound!

Ginny and I spent today working as part of Team Depot cleaning up the Salvation Army building downtown. What a mess! The water and mud ran in under the doors and all over the carpets and down into the basement. There is a mark about a foot off the floor of the basement where the water level was. I'm stiff and sore but feel good about what we did. We were out this evening shopping for stuff for the food bank since they were flooded and lost almost all of the food they had on hand.

Are you guys still getting rained on, or has it started to clear up? I hope I hope....

On last night's news, they said that most people didn't have insurance for floods (not even sure if we have it!). I hope some emergency funding is forthcoming!!!

Sorry about the flooding - hope everyone is okay. I was going to post pictures of the Edmonton flooding, but don't know how. Can someone tell me how?
