We are on the 4-day Wonder cruise on May 16th. Does anyone have any suggestions for the day in Nassau? We were thinking about going to the straw market first and then heading over to the Pirate Museum for a walk through and then lunch there. I don't think that this will take all that long and the ship is docked there for the entire day. I would like to do Atlantis but I can't believe that they charge 60.00 for an adult and 45.00 for a child to go to the acquarium. Any suggestions?

We did the two hour historic city tour right away after the ship docked in the morning. This was very nice (we are 45, 42 and 21). It stopped and let you out at the Queen's staircase, some of the forts, the water tower, etc. We all enjoyed it. The driver even stopped at one of the beaches so we could all take photos...there were beautiful sailboats and the cruise ships in the background.

The guide told us..you could grab a cab to Atlantis, there was no charge to go into the lobby or gamble, and she said the fee was $25 if you wanted to spend time there. We didn't have time to check out Atlantis..hopefully another time. You can see it when the ship docks..it looks beautiful.

After our two hour city tour...we stopped by Senor Frogs so our daughter could do some shopping for her friends. If you are a Senor Frogs fan..there is a life size Senor Frog with the water in the background..great for pictures. Then we headed over to a local restaurant for lunch Conch Fritters..just down the block, a recommendation from our two hour tour guide.
The food was wonderful. Big open windows where you can look over the action of the city. I can recommend this place for a nice relaxing lunch.

We spent time at the straw market..hubby teaching daughter and I how to negotiate prices..lol, lots of fun. We went to the liqour store of course, hard rock cafe, couple other places.

You can get stamps and post cards at the pharmacy, if you miss the post office being open like I did. There are mail boxes near the pharmacy..big and red..you can't miss them. It only took about a week for our postcards to reach everyone. The stamps are beautiful.

We saw the pirate museum, didn't go in.

Oh, and right near the star market..there is a phillipino restaurant..we had to go in, as we were all missing real lumpia.
It did not disappoint..and we would definately eat there again as well..to try more of our favorites.

Hope this helps!

You said that you were told at Atlantis that it would cost $25.00 to spend time there. What was that for? no the aquarium right?

Annae - you may want to go to the official DCL website and click on the "fun onshore" part. There are descriptions of all the excursions and their costs. The $60 price you quoted sounds like the Atlantis beach day tour price. There is another excursion that is a less expensive aquarium tour, without the beach priviledges.

I did look at the disney cruise line site but I also went on Dave's Tribute to DCL and looked at the Nassau Excursion Page that he has there and it says that for the cheaper price ---- I think it was 35.00 for adults and 23.00 for kids you can see the predator lagoon which has some sharks and baracudas in it. The only excursion that provided for the full tour of the acquarium was the beach day excursion. I just don't want to spend $210.00 for the four of us to go to the acquarium.

Well, i have gone to Nassau a couple of times and have NEVER paid to go visit the aquariums at Atlantis. There is a fee for the water slides and other such areas, but I have always just walked in , checked out the aquariums, walked around the shops etc and was never asked to pay a fee....

Not sure what that fee you are being told about is for....

My advise is stay on the ship. We took our 2 DD's shopping for about 2 hours in Nassau (on our own...you can just walk from the ship) and were not impressed with it. The locals (albeit they are making a living) are quite pushy and the island was not all that clean. The girls kept asking to go back swimming in the Mickey Pool. So that is what we did. The pool wasn't crowded at all which was great. We had just got done with 5 days in Disney so they were ready for some R&R. I would suggest just doing something on your own instead of being a tour where it will take up most of your day and you can't come and go as you please.

Can you get cheap transportation to one of their beaches? My DH said he would love that. We're planning on next April for our first ever cruise.

She just said $25 to go elswhere, other than the lobby or casino.

Just throwing it out there as an option for people to check out!
