Guess NBC didn't want to show them because a) Disney owns ABC and b) Disney didn't pay out the money that NBC wanted. Ever see how a race's name might change if the sponser doesn't shell out the bucks to the network showing the race.

Poor Mikey - nasty flip he took! Nice to see him being able to walk away from it - looked like a very nasty wreck and when TV pulls away and goes into "talk" mode you start to worry.

In typical Mikey fashion he was yelling at the crew to just flip him over so he could get out!

Hello All....just got back from Daytona....what a race, came down to the 2 drivers with the best cars all day....just wish 1 and 2 where switched, but hey, if Smoke had to lose to someone, no one better than his good buddy Jr....had an awesome time and the weather was just perfect, couldn't have asked for a better day.....hopefully Atlanta will be good as well next month.....Congrats to all the Jr fans out there and hopefully Big Orange will on top at the Rock .... Andy

Whew, glad to get that one out of the way. 6 years ago to the day that his daddy won the "big one". It was nice to see the president in attendance and nice to see him call Jr. after the race. Now, let's see if Jr. can do it again today in the Busch race!

One of a couple of things I didn't care for during yesterday's race was the way Mikey ripped into the safety crew after his crash. Those guys were looking out for the safety of the driver. Being an EMT, there are certain procedures that you follow during any extrication. I can tell you stories of car crash victims I tended to that said they were "fine" but ended up being injured. One guy even had a broken back. I'm glad, and I'm sure that guy is also, that I followed the procedures that I was taught and stabilized him immediately. I feel the Waltrip was out of line and he owes that group of safety workers an apology.

The other thing I didn't care for was the way that Stewart kept harping and harping about how Andretti crashed him the day before and that "that is what Andretti does". I wish I had a dollar for every soundbite that Stewart made concerning Andretti and his terrible driving skills. Once was certainly enough. Don't get me wrong, I like both Tony and Mikey. I just think their comments were uncalled for in MHO.

Anyway, looking forward to this mornings race and next week at The Rock.

It's very possible that Michael will apologize on Inside NEXTEL cup tonight. He's done that in the past, he's gotten angry, said something dumb and then apologizes for it after he calms down. I really believe the media should give drivers time to calm down before they interview them. I'm sure they thought they were giving the audience evidence that Mikey was okay but he probably needed more time (or a slap in the head from Buffy) before he went on air. Then again, he may still feel that way today. Someone said the bars they were cutting were the support for the cage, could be he was afraid what was left of the car was going to come down on his head. Tough call for all of us who weren't there. Hopefully Mikey will explain and at least apologize for being so rough on the EMTs tonight.
