PS....meeting Tony was way cool!! Here's the long story, Andy gave the short one....

After work, we headed to the McDonough Home Depot, where Tony was making an autograph appearance from 6-8pm. When we arrived (5:45), the line was down and around to the back of the store. We got our wristband, got in line and started making friends with the folks around us.... After almost 2hrs (in 3-inch heels)...we were entering the store. One of the last group to be admitted. Then, before we knew it...we were at the front of the line. We'd already been told...one autographed item per person...pixs are fine, but no posing. With the hundreds of folks that he saw, this seemed reasonable, but I had to ask. "Excuse me, may I prop Flat Stanley up and take your pix while you sign?" Imagine my surprise when Tony stopped writing, looked up and smiled. As I started to launch into my "Flat Stanley is a school project...." speech, Tony spoke..."No problem, I'll be glad to hold him. We get alot of Flat Stanleys." He knew about Flat Stanley and was happy to help out!!! WOW! Of all the responses, this was not one that I had even considered. Not only did he hold FS (by the hands, no less), but he stopped signing autographs and smiled into the camera. I think that I'm one of the few folks who didn't have to take a picture while he was signing (ie...getting the top of his head ). He was a really nice person and I'm very glad we had the opportunity to meet him!! :)

So was it a Digital camera or a regular camera? When are we going to see the picture ;) Thanks for the report of the meeting, sounds like it was great. Have fun at the race guys!

Here's my picks:

#8 Jr.
#12 Newman
#20 Stewart
#15 Waltrip
#88 Jarrett

Spare: #48 Johnson

PICTURES, PICTURES, WE WANT PICTURES :bounce: :bounce:

WOW, Andy and Ginny that's so awesome. I'm glad you guys had such a cool experience. DD had to do a Flat Stanley once and we sent him to friends in Mississippi where he went to a rodeo, certainly not as exciting as meeting Tony Stewart. :D

Pictures....hopefully coming soon....

It was a digital camera...so as soon as I can figure out how to get the pixs on the DISboard...we'll get them posted. If anybody has tips on how to do it, please share.

Guess I'm still pretty excited.... :jumping1: Andy is too, he wore his autographed Tony Stewart jacket to work today. :)

Hope qualifying goes well...

Ginny

Thank you Andy. I came to the board but you had already posted. (I was busy filling out sweepstakes entries for the Texas Race - a friend found me one that is only open to Oklahomans so I was writing my name and adress over and over and over:hyper: Wish me luck!)

I love that this NASCAR Fans thread is becoming such a "community" and that everyone shares info ;) I almost posted on the "homeless" thread but realized I'm not homeless as long as there are NASCAR fans here.

Did ya'll see Happy Hour this morning - fastest Dave Blaney (one of my favorite underdogs). Gordon looked much better today than he did yesterday and says by tomorrow he should be as good as his car ;) I hope Loomis is getting better too.

Top ten in Happy Hour were:

1 #23 Dave Blaney Dodge
2 #41 Casey Mears Dodge
3 #29 Kevin Harvick Chevrolet
4 #97 Kurt Busch Ford
5 #0 Ward Burton Chevrolet
6 #48 Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet
7 #18 Bobby Labonte Chevrolet
8 #99 Jeff Burton Ford
9 #12 Ryan Newman Dodge
10 #6 Mark Martin Ford

I'm not a NASCAR fan and haven't read this whole thread so forgive me if this has already been posted. There is an IMAX 3D NASCAR movie out right now. In fact my son and husband are on their way there right now. Sounds like fun.

DH and I just got home from the IMAX movie. It was really good. We loved it. The beginning chase scene was great. It was very interesting, definitely for die-hard fans like us. The 3D was really cool and so clear at times it felt like you were eavesdropping on conversations and the pit road action was awesome.

Andy, I love your pic's, so cool. :D

Tori, I agree with you about feeling at home on this thread. Lately I've been just coming straight here and not even checking out the community board. Good luck on your sweepstakes.
