I kind of like it.

Bud has finally opened the registration for their annual contest. You pick 15 drivers and then pick what order they'll finish in (much harder than our little game of picking just 5). If you are one of the top three scorers for the week you can win some cool Bud Racing gear - I'm not really interested in the gear - I'm just trying to prove I know my NASCAR Here's the link if you are interested

Mobil One has a similar contest with Ryan Newman where you could possibly win 1 million dollars and on Feb 2nd Gillette will announce it's Young Guns program - the weekly winner there can get $5000 and the season winner gets 5 million Nice.

I think now that Winston is gone we will see more and more opportunities to win NASCAR stuff or better yet cash and trips to races (although if you win enough cash you can pay for your own trip).

So that's it for my news about NASCAR (can you tell I really like entering sweepstakes?) What's everyone else doing until the racing begins?

Thanks for the links, Torilammy. That's a pretty cool contest (I'm a Jr. fan above legal age so I could enter ). How neat would it be if one of our dis Nascar fans could win something? Don't know whether I like the red/white scheme for the car. Can't wait until we can see it live on tv though! This season is coming up quick .

Did anyone else just catch Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Diary on MTV? I hadn't even seen it advertise just found it while surfing the channels. If anyone's interested, it will be rerun at 1:30am EST.

I caught it. My teen daughter was in charge of the remote and during commercials on the Golden Globes she was channel surfing and found Diary so we watched. I'm so ready for the season to begin I'll watch anything NASCAR related. Actually, Dale Jr isn't that bad, it just some of his fans (mostly on AOL) that drive me nuts. (None of his fans on here do that by the way .) One of the great (??) things about MTV is they show their programs over and over so fans will have lots of opportunities to watch it. It was a good show and it really showed how down to earth Jr really is and he says he wants to stay that way, I hope he succeeds

First I want to wish you much luck in all the contest you enter.

Second, I was wondering if you kept the results of our game from last year, if so do we have an overall winner? That would be fun to know, I definitely know it wasn't me, maybe you or Valerie. I seem to remember you both doing good.

I can't wait for the new season to start and I REALLY can't wait for spring.

Oh I'm pretty sure it wasn't me who won last year. I only won one week and there were quite a few where I was very close to the bottom. My money would be on Lanshark or ToriLammy. I remember both of them doing very well.

It was Lanshark She kicked our butts winning at least 4 times. I actually went back and tried to average it all out to see who had the best average finishes overall but truthfully it was too much work. I do intend to keep a spreedsheet this year from week to week so we can crown our champion at the end of the season (unlike NASCAR our rules will stay the same). I do have the distinction of coming in 1st on the AOL Board where I do participate in the same kind of game. Now if I could just win one week of the Bud Challenge I'd be really happy.

You know I'm a true Gordon fan through and through but on another board I actually said I hope Rusty does win the Daytona 500. He currently sits at 99 races since his last win. If he doesn't win the Daytona 500 he goes to 100 - don't want to see that happen. So here's hoping Rusty took some lessons from Ryan over the winter and can pull it off. IF for any reason he can't win (accident, blown engine, etc) then the winner has to be Gordon

So, who is going to be watching the Rolex 24 this weekend? A lot of NASCAR drivers are participating, Jr, STewart, Johnson, Petty, R. Gordon and even part time NASCAR driver Boris Said - should be fun. Will be on Speed Channel 1PM EST time on Saturday (Live) and Sunday at 6AM EST (Live also).

Hopefully he will quite being so bull headed and take advice from Ryan. Obviously Ryan did something right last year.
All I would really like to see before he retires is for him to win the big one. I shall NEVER loose hope!
Don't know if I will watch the Rolex, Probably pop in and out to see how the Nextel guys are doing.

Did anyone watch the Rolex 24 hr. race? Stewart, Jr. and Wallace really dominated the race and what a heart break with like 15 min.'s or so to go. DH and I were so upset.

Anyway I believe practice for the Bud Shootout is Fri. at 3:30 on Speed. I can't wait.

I saw the end of the Rolex 24 (actually watched a few hours both Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning). I was very disappointed when the #2 car broke. They really did deserve to win. My daughter was watching with me and made a comment about how well Tony took it - something along the lines of "boy has he mellowed." (She won't commit to a favorite NASCAR driver but I think Tony is near the top of her list.) That was some nasty weather they had to drive in. I hope mother nature got the rain out of her system and will keep it warm and sunny for the next two weekends

For those of you new to the game, here's what we do. You post your top 5 picks to win and a spare (in case one of drivers doesn't qualify). Picks must be placed before qualifying to count. After the race I take the overall finish of your 5 drivers and average it out, the person with the best overall finish wins. What do you win - just the admiration of those on the thread and bragging rights for a week (until the next race). I'm going to keep the practice game on this thread but next week for the Daytona 500 I will start a new thread (and each race after that)

Did you also notice how Stewart was just blowing all the others away while driving in the rain....it seemed like everyone was driving in a residential neighborhood while Stewart was driving like being on an interstate passing one car after another....good run for the #2 team just bad luck with the equipment and only had 18 minutes to go.....what a heart breaker, Stewart said he would be back again next year and is determined to win the race.
