:teeth: I did! Dh got me not one, but two Jr. ornaments for our tree and I had a number 8 car in my stocking. I have a 2003 Jr. calendar but I didn't get one for 2004. I'll have to see if can find one for myself ;) .

Thanks for the info - going to check out the web site now

DS has been wearing his Dale Jr. Jersey since he opened it on Christmas. I think I am going to have to peel it off of him tomorrow and wash it.

Happy New Year NASCAR Fans :)

Check it out Elliott Sadler lost his color when M&Ms lost theirs. Seems he won't get it back until they reach Vegas (home of M&M World - how convenient)

Other preseason news - there will be quite a few contests/ sweepstakes for NASCAR fans this year. I already told you guys (Lanshark especially) about the Budweiser one and I've signed up to be notified when it starts (probably early Feb). I'll post a link when it's up and running. Gillette razors is going to have a similiar one where you pick the finishing order of their 6 Young Guns (Earnhardt JR, Busch, Harvick, Newman, Johnson and Kenseth). Weekly winners get cash and the overall winner goes to the May Dover race and has a chance to win $5 million dollars. Not as good as the Winston No Bull where 5 people got a chance to win $1 million each but still not bad. Maybe one of us can turn our little weekly game into a chance to win some real NASCAR prizes or cash (to spend on NASCAR stuff) ;)

Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader will be racing in the Chili Bowl in Tulsa OK next weekend (Jan 7-10) and I'm really debating about going. I'd love to meet them both but especially Schrader. Decisions, decisions ;)

Hey, hope everyone had a great holiday season. :D We did get the NASCAR game for Playstation 2 and it's very addicting. I'm happy to see this thread back up front, I lost it after I replied and I'm happy to catch up. :D

Rolex 24 at Daytona

Looks as if DE Jr. and Tony Stewart are teaming up! Jr. ran this race the last time with his dad.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Adam aka Big Dude

Stewart, Earnhardt JR and now Jimmie Johnson too but he's on a different team. Guess a lot of NASCAR fans will be watching the Rolex 24 this year.

DENVER, N.C. (January 02, 2004) -- Howard-Boss Motorsports and Crawford Race Cars announced today that former Rolex 24 At Daytona winners Butch Leitzinger and Elliott Forbes-Robinson (EFR) will team with car owner Dave Brule and NASCAR Superstar Jimmie Johnson to drive the No. 4 Boss Snowplow DP03 Daytona Prototype entry in the Rolex 24 At Daytona

Hello All....I hope everyone had a super holiday and a safe start to the New Year....I've been having trouble trying to find interesting things to do with my Sundays, but all I seem to be doing is work around the house...ugh !! Well, we are less than 6 weeks away from the start of the 2004 Nextel Cup Series, geez, I can't get used to saying 'Nextel', and can't wait for the Bud Shoot out (pulling for you know who :cool2: ) We are taking a long weekend during the 500 and are going to Daytona, tickets or not, and will probably stay at Disney for the weekend and hopefully find tickets at a reasonable price, oh well, time to get ready for work, ugh, hope everyone has a great week !! Andy

Andy,

I've been sweepstaking (entering sweepstakes as a hobby) for about 5 years now and one thing I have noticed. Around this time of year Publix normally has a sweeptakes limited to GA and FL for tickets to the Daytona 500. It always catches my eye because it is a NASCAR sweepstakes and I'm jealous of those who live in that area and have a chance to go to Daytona. Coors light also often offers a chance to win tickets so go to your nearest Supermarkets and look around for chances to win tickets. I won tickets to the Texas race one year from Coors light. There is a newsletter I get that publishes sweepstakes so if I see any for GA that have Daytona tickets I'll send you the info. Maybe working together we can get you really reasonable priced tickets - FREE ;) (Hey I just won my BIL a trip for 2 to the Bahamas so anything is possible::yes:: )

Tori,

Ginny is a big 'FREEBIE' page surfer and is always looking for a chance to enter a sweepstakes/contest for anything 'FREE', so I'm keeping my fingers crossed she wins one of those that involves race tickets, also, all my customers are in the car business and so I've always gotten free tickets to the AMS races....I'm working a few for Daytona tickets and hoping one of them comes through for me, otherwise, I'm dropping them from my customer list. Thanks for keeping me in mind though and cannot wait till the season starts...I got XM radio for Christmas, however, listening to is just not the same as seeing it !! Andy

Then have Ginny check out this website - Winn Dixie - Take Your Place at the Race ;) It's a phone in sweepstakes.

http://www.harwoodmarketing.com/wdnascar04/rules.html

A chance to win trips to 8 different races throughout the year starting with Daytona. Only open to certain states (states with Winn Dixie). Unfortunately for me they closed the ones in OK.

Thanks for the link Tori, here's a link you might want to try for a bunch of sweepstakes/contests....www.ezsweeps.com ... You will find everything from money to vacations on this one....be sure to check the rules for each to make sure you qualify......Andy

Did you notice all the pics of the Disney cars on the first page appear to be Grand Prixs, I thought GM was no longer supporting the GP after last year ?? Andy

Interesting bit of news: Joe Gibbs goes back to the Washington Redskins.

http://www.nascar.com/2004/news/headlines/cup/01/07/ap.va..redskins.gibbs.to.ap/index.html

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- In a stunning move, Joe Gibbs will return as coach of the Washington Redskins, a team he led to three Super Bowl titles.

Gibbs agreed to a five-year contract, he announced on his NASCAR racing team's Web site Wednesday.

"The desire to coach has always been with me, even after being away from the game for 11 years," Gibbs said.

The Redskins expected to announce Gibbs' hiring later Wednesday, a source within the NFL told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. (more at the link)

Does this mean Tony and Bobby will be going to more football games? Will they have football players showing up at races? Maybe they can even be pit crew members ;) Will this help those football fans who think NASCAR is not a sport gain more respect for it? How will Joe spend his Sundays in the fall? :) Can Joe win a NASCAR championship and the Super Bowl in the same year? If so which ring will he wear :) Interesting things to think about huh.

OMG, they've gone and done it.

http://www.nascar.com/2004/news/headlines/cup/01/08/points_2004/index.html

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The speculation is over.

NASCAR indeed is changing the way it crowns a champion in the Nextel Cup Series in 2004, switching to a season-long points race to a 10-race "playoff," vice president of corporate communications Jim Hunter confirmed to NASCAR.com Thursday afternoon.

While Hunter didn't disclose the exact nature of the playoffs -- because NASCAR hasn't nailed down the details -- a system will be used in the final 10 races to determine the champion.
