has anyone done the nascar drive or ride along at WDW? did you like it? you have and pictures or video? is it worth it? thsnks

I have done the ride along twice. Totally worth every penny. It is one of those things that you forget is there but makes the trip if you get a chance to do it. We loved it...

You can go over as a spectator if you want to to check the place out and see what it is all about. There is no charge just to go watch (you just have to check in and sign a waiver). If you decide to do the ride along you do not need a reservation...if you want to do the classes and drive you will need to book it in advance.

My DH just did the Rookie Experience on Sept 30th and LOVED it! I wanted to do a ride along because they got to go really fast, but I decided to wait until next time. It was too hot to sweat in the suit. DH wants to do it again, though we may go to Daytona instead of the WDW Speedway. You can go faster at Daytona.

If you have AAA you get a 20% discount too.
Here he is getting suited up (that's him in the back)

And they're off! That's the instructor in front of him. The classes prepare you for what to do in certain situations, then you follow the instructors. The better you follow them, the faster you're allowed to go. DH said it was a little harder than he expected. He wants to do it again since he knows what to do now.

Another picture of him following the instructor. It doesn't look like they're going fast, but they are. I think he's slowing down a bit for the turn. Too bad we don't have sound effects because that's what was really cool!

If you do it, have someone video it for you. I didn't think to bring our recorder with us and I was sorry. I'll make sure I have it next time.

We thought about doing it last time we went until we heard what you get for the price. A friend did the Dale Jarrett one (which I would rather do since he's my favorite driver) and said it was better than the Petty.

And I wouldn't want to drive Mike Bliss' car anyway, that car can't finish a course without hitting a wall.

My DH is doing the ride-along next week at WDW so I'll let you know how he likes it when we get back. Unfortunately, there are no driving/riding experiences at Daytona next week so we had to settle for WDW.
