Has anyone had the surf and turf at Narcoosse's? It says on Deb's site that it is served with spoon bread. Not really sure what spoon bread is but do you think that they would substitute some kind of starch (ie potato) for that? Not overly obsessively planning or anything! :rotfl2:
Thanks!!!

spoon bread is made with cornmeal. Think of it as cornbread that's soft. :wave2:

Never had it - not really a "foodie" per say, but we have eaten in some pretty nice restaurants and I did not recognize that dish.
Thanks again!

Me either! :rotfl:

I just read this thread because I was wondering if I should make an ADR at Narcoossee's, and I've heard of spoon bread but didn't know what it was! I googled it!

Actually we are in the same situation. I have an ADR at Yachtsman (also at Concourse and Le Cellier) so I was thinking of changing our "special Anniversary dinner" to Narcoossee's. Three steakhouses in 5 nights is a little much - even for us as we're huge steak fans! I think that the Narcoossee's menu seems interesting and we're hoping to be able to watch the fireworks from there. Plus we're staying at VWL so it should be a bit closer. Have you decided to eat at Narcoossee's?

After I asked this question I searched around on some other menus and the Narcoossee's menu on the dis shows the the surf and turf is served with some kind of potato - no mention of spoon bread!

When are you going to WDW? Our dates are 10/14-20. Enjoy your trip!

On a personal note, I just realized where you are from! I grew up in So. Central Pa - near Carlisle - and lived in Philly before my DH dragged me to VA. Plus I was (and still am) a huge PSU fan. Since we live in Blacksburg and my DH is a VT alumni, he has switched me over to the dark side (Virginia Tech). I have two uncles who are PSU alums and bleed blue and white. I also have a sister at Pitt!

I had the surf and turf and DS 10 had my bread, he is so great that way! I do not worry about straches when he is around! I loved Narcoossee's ! We also dined at Yachtsman and found it very alcking and disappointed by our entree's. Service was wonderful but I was dining there for a meal that was very substandard!

Narcoossee;s I loved the water pageant and the fireworks after dinner. I believe I made adr's for 8 or 8:30 and it was perfect! We were hoping to return without DS (shocking yes!) but not do parks and go for anniversary for 3 nights. I was going to make our ADRs for anniversary dinner for Narcoossee's. It is lovely!

Happy planning and have a great trip!
