Narcoossee's, an evening of muscles & tail in front of the boss.

So as we are purusing the menu, the Boss' Wife and i reminisce about the first time I had Mussels with her, not to be confused with MUSCLES
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It was a long time ago, on the Queen Mary in Long Beach. NO commentary from the peanut gallery about Queen please....:lmao:

As we're discussing this ....the Boss tells everyone don't worry about what you want to order, "I am paying".

Well, that being said, the Wife and I discuss our plans.....

Both Start with Mussels and she'll have the 2 1/2 pound Maine Lobster and I'll have the Surf & Turf.

The K-Man, decides on the cheese plate....one of MANY that we ate during our stay and the Scallops over rissotto with english peas.

The Boss decided to skip an app, and decided on the Tuna.

AHEM ... point of clarification ... K-Man got the Cheese Plate for it's binding effects! Lords knows if my stomach was going to hold up through the meal with the Boss and if I'd make it to DESSERT!

QUEEN MARY? ... someone's going to have to pay me NOT to write about this one! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So....The Boss' Wife and I each had

Prince Edward Island Mussels white wine, roasted garlic, tomatoes, basil and parmesan cheese
HUGE bowl....FULL of mussels, hot, tasty, NOT sandy....delicious broth...can't go wrong.

Only thing....MORE BREAD PLEASE.....so I can mop up this broth....but then again....I got Surf and Turf Coming.

The K-Man had Artisan Cheeses - Humboldt Fog, Fourme d'Ambert, and Coulommiers

We've also had the Humboldt Fog from Cypress Grove (a huge cheese manufacturer that Disney uses a LOT....great cheese too....) which has a layer of ash in between 2 layers of cheese. Other Humboldt Fog cheeses we've had before actually seperate the morning milking from the afternoon milking cheese by the layer of ash.

We've also hads the Fourme d'Ambert and serve it in our home. It is OUT OF THIS WORLD!....by our taste the BEST BLue Cheese available, hands down!

The third offering, Coulommiers, we've never had before. it is similar to a Brie, just a little different in flavor.

All 3 were very nice overall, and not a BIG stretch to the taste buds for those that are picky.

The K-Man and I LOVE cheese and will try ANYTHING, this offering was a great middle of the road tasting of three distinctly different cheeses.

Feeling the Love ... sensing the Tension ... or just because he's an attentive and wonderful manager ... Sam Jones came over as he saw us finishing up on our appetizers.

The Boss had finished his Beefeaters by this time, I had finished my Double and with Sam's attentiveness, the waters seemed to have calmed. After Sam left, the Boss looked at us with a raised eye brow. Perhaps he was wondering why we were getting the Royal Treatment? Thank God I had the window seat and could look out over the Lake! :rotfl:

So where does one begin?

We finished up our apps and out comes the entrees.

My Boss decided to have the Grilled Ahi Tuna - white bean chorizo cake, tomato-fennel ragout and micro basil.

As we all hold our breath....he declares....."it's good"

whew......1st round down....the Boss has decreed that his entree was good!

:worship: ALL HAIL THE DISNEY CHEFS!:worship:

Moving on his lovely Wife ordered the Steamed Whole Maine Lobster - potato gratin and steamed baby broccoli

As we waited for dinner, she was musing about the fact that her first lobsta of 2008 was in Florida and that she had to travel all the way from Conecticut to Florida to have a Maine Lobster.

Now...we were expecting a 1 1/2 pounder, but out they bring a 2 1/2 pounder~!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

No need for those plastic bibbs, the Chefs broke the lobester in half and cracked the claws and presented it artistically on the plate!

The Boss' Wife declares this is the best lobster I have had in a long time!

:faint:

The only thing that we notice is that the little tentacle claws under the belly are missing.....hhmmm....someone out back must be suckin on all that sweet goodness!

We're on a roll here....

continuing on, I ordered the Surf and Turf - Grilled Filet Mignon and Butter-Poached Lobster Tail, potato gratin and green peppercorn brandy sauce since the boss was paying!

Now...I was a bit concerned, a lot of times up here in the Northeast, if you order Surf and Turf, the piece of TAIL that is provided is grilled and has a tendancy to be dry.....
OH LORDY NO....this was poached in butter....dripping in the gold essences of sweet creamery butter......

:faint:

Both the filet and the lobster tail were cooked to perfection. As most of you know, I am not typically a tenderloin fan (I go for those fatty flavorful pieces of ribeye!), but must say the filet I had on Wednesday was absolutely hands down one of the most tender flavorful pieces of beef I have had in a long time.

Moving on to the K-Man....he ordered...Grilled Scallops - wild mushroom risotto, fresh peas, crispy pancetta and porcini mushroom broth

This will be the 2nd time in 3 days that we (he) had scallops....being with the Boss, as was explained...there would be NO SHARING OF FOOD! :scared1:

As a result I shall leave it up to Kevin to explain his dish.

So where does one begin?

We're on a roll here....

Yeah, and in the meantime, we're keeping the conversation light and focused on what the Boss and his wife were doing for Easter and what they'd be doing with their grandchild. HINT: if you ever want to bring the Boss to his knees, bring up the grandchildren.

OK ... enough already. There are way too many people on their knees here!

MISTER DISNEY ... he's always looking for a piece of TAIL! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OH ... SORRY ... I was supposed to explain the SCALLOP DISH ... not the DISH sitting next to me

The scallops were wonderful and I truly enjoyed them. The peas in the risotto were fresh English Peas and jolly good if I do say so myself.

As for Scallops 2 out of the last 3 days, well, they just didn't have them at CiCi's! :dance3: :dance3:

I think this is definatly what I'll be getting in September.

At this point in the evening....people are starting to "gather" on the veranda of Narcoossee's, there by pretty much assuring that we wouldn't be able to see the fireworks from our table :headache: :headache: .

Please note....as much as people report asking for a window table etc. The way the veranda is set up, with benches along the walls, it pretty much assures you that you won't be having a clear view of the fireworks from your table.

In an effort to speed things up, I suggest we order coffee and dessert so that we might go out into the cool evening to watch the fireworks.

DESSERT!

I started Jonesing for DESSERT, hoping to get it in before Wishes started, but also not knowing what the Boss was going to do. Would he want to stay where he was and watch it from the restaurant or go outside like we did last year. All of these questions were secondary ... Was I going to get DESSERT before Wishes!

I ordered the Chocolate Almond Gateau and Decaf. Of all nights not to have the Grand Marineir Flight sitting in front of Mister Disney! We won't bring that topic up again ...

Hey-we have ADRs for 8:10 on the 27th. Stop by and have a drink with us!!!

Ahhhhh the surf and turf at Narcoosee's........that is my favorite meal at WDW! If only you had ordered the calamari then it would have been perfect! Well, as perfect as it could have been with the Boss there anyway!

popcorn::

This is much better than Desperate Housewives!
