pay OOP for our 5 yo daughter's meal at Narcoosee's instead of using two credits on her meal? Has anyone paid OOP for their child's meal at a signature restaurant and used credits for the adults?

Unfortunately, the Dining Plan does not allow guests to use child meal entitlements for adult meals. If you have any further questions about this, please contact Disney Dining directly, as forum rules prohibit threads that ask for interpretation of the rules.

PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Information on using the Disney Dining Plan

Any questions regarding the use of the plan that are not answered specifically in the WDW Dining Brochure cannot be accurately answered on these boards and should be addressed to WDW Dining. Interpretation of the rules has led to a tremendous amount of debate on these boards. To avoid further conflict, we will close any threads that ask for interpretation of the rules and encourage the poster to contact WDW Dining.

Our experience:

At California Grill, the server told us that we could buy whatever we wanted for our daughter instead of using her credits. She just shared with us (age 2 at the time of check-in) but he didn't know that.

That is not what I asked. I asked if we would be allowed to use credits to pay for the adults' meals, and pay OOP for the child's meal. So - can my question be answered here, or do I need to try elsewhere?

And...your links to the dining plan brochures don't work.

Thank you, I hope it will be the same at Narcoosee's.

Am I correct in reading that you are not actually wanting to use child credits for adults... You just want to know if you can pay OOP for the child and use your adult credits. That is the way I read the question...

I do not know the answer to your question... but will be at Narcoossee's this coming monday!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!

Given the way the OP was worded -- "... paid OOP for their child's meal at a signature restaurant and used credits for the adults ..." -- that sure sounds like a problem. Regardless, the moderators have noted that the only information we can provide is the information in the brochure. For further information and interpretations, please contact Disney Dining directly.

I've fixed the links in the message.

Okay, I see the confusion! The OP said "pay OOP for the child and use credits for the adults" not "pay OOP for the child and use those credits for the adults"! Yes, that should be acceptable, although 'out of pocket' is not specifically addressed in the DDP brochure, so I wouldn't be surprised if this thread gets locked soon :)

Every MYW Dining brochure has said every MYW dining plan guest at a signature restaurant will have 2 credits deducted from their account. The language implies you either use the plan for everyone or pay out of pocket for everyone.

This provision doesn't seem to be enforced but the OP, where the OP asked about saving the child's credits and using it for an adult meal later in the trip, is a reason why some restaurants might enforce it.

AAAH - Lewis - you have cited the language for me that caused me to be so :scared1: when I was on the phone with a dining CM last week. "Signature" is the operative word here - I get it now!

Thank you!!

Why don't you just go to Narcoosee's and use credits for everyone or pay OOP for everyone. Would most likely be simpler to do it this way then trying to count up credits and what not. You're on the free dining anyways so I wouldn't worry about nickel and diming everything... So you may have to pay somewhere for those credits that you could've saved by using your daughter's. Just remember that you are on vacation and are there to have a great time(in the big scheme of things who cares about paying for a dinner or two); at least you are able to go to WDW and use the free dining!
Sorry, I got kinda windy there.... Been at school too long today and feeling bad for all the people I work to try and help and they don't even have any money to go out to eat... :guilty:

Go and have a great time!!!!!!!!!!! It's not everyday you get to go to WDW... Don't let a few things (like credits and paying for a few dinners) bring ya' down! :sunny:
