NaNoWriMo 2008?

I'm in!

I started writing a novel when I was 12. The concept was good, but the novel was trash. I rewrote the book when I was 14 and it's still trash.

Now I'm 25, and after all these years I still really believe in that novel. I'm going to get it written for real this time!

I'm doing it this year! I heard about it through a friend who's participating. In fact, she might be around here somewhere.

I'm way behind though, which sucks, only because I still fully intend to finish by the deadline - it's just going to be that much harder for me now! :rotfl: (I'm only at 7,500 words :rolleyes1)

Also - I don't have any chapters. Is that bad? Would chapters help break up the plot for me and speed along the writing process? Then again, I think it's too late to go back and separate things. That'd be letting my "inner editor" out a little too long, and she's grounded.

I wouldn't worry about chapters too much right now. For some reason I usually write without them and then add them in as I'm editing. For me there always seems to be a natural break here and there in the action. But yeah, don't let the inner editor out just yet!! :D

I finally broke the 10,000 word mark but I am soo far behind where I want to be!

Wow … I am so behind right now … like almost 10,000 words behind… oh well! I’ll finish even if I have to kill Cole off and write a 20,000 word funeral for him.:goodvibes I hope everyone is doing well so far! Good luck! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

CourtasanSatine – Yay Violet I hope she likes Torchwood!:cloud9:

Nette – Meet Bob, he has a nice wheelbarrow of cement just for plot holes. Now that they’re filled, write away! And congrats to your MC on the marriage, I hope she’s very happy!

RainbowBrite – Welcome! Don’t worry about if your novel is trash or not, the first drafts always are. I wish you luck!:woohoo:

Romymichelle21 – Don’t worry! You’ll make it!:cheer2: I know you will! And no chapters don’t really need to happen. The only reason I like them is because they boost word counts with ridiculously long chapter titles.

Phedre – Yay for doing so good! :cool1: I’m really behind too so no worries, we’ve still got some time!

- If I have missed anyone, I am sorry. :sad1: -

Well, I'm stuck at 7,500 with only a week left to go - so I don't think I'm gonna make it! :sad2:

I haven't written in over a week, I think when it got to the point of ridiculousness in terms of being behind - I wasn't as motivated anymore.

I still intend to finish the story! I just don't think I can hang 42,500 words in 7 days.

The month is almost over... anyone still sticking with it? :D

I am! And I've even caught up and am ahead of where I should be ... I think. I hate my story, but that's pretty usual for where I am right now. Lots of fun plot twists going on though.

Anyone else?

Ahh I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hates their story. I also hate my main character. She's so whiny and annoying!! I'm 2500 words from 50k, but still a bit more from actually finishing the story. But I should have no problem with at least the 50k goal by the end of the month :) I'm so glad I took on this challenge. I've learned so much about myself and the writing process this month.

Nope, you're not alone, I actually don't mind my MC at the moment, but his story kinda sucks. It's too introspective, and not enough action, that would probably be taken care of in editing ... if I decided to do that, which I probably won't.
I don't think my story will end at 50k either, but we'll see how I feel about it by the time I reach that number, to see if I'll end it properly or not.
NaNo, definitely not for the faint of heart.

I'm not going to make 50,000, and I'm blaming it on 3 weeks of migraines. I did get 17,000 words though, which more than doubled my WIP. I'm considering it a success even though it wasn't a win!

CONGRATS BARB D!!!

In my mind, any amount of writing, actually getting started, and getting further then you thought you would = WIN!

And 17,000 is nothin to sneer at. Outside of NaNo, I don't know if I've met one person who's even tried to write that much for one story.

Besides... there's always next year... :rolleyes1

Also, I hope you're feeling better, or that you start too. Migraines are no fun at all.

YAY!!!!! :woohoo:  :woohoo:

Barb, I hope you are feeling better! 3 weeks of migraines?!!? I can't even imagine. I totally agree that 17k is a huge number and you should definitely be proud of it :D

I verified my winning totals tonight! But I still have a good bit of story yet to go and I hope I can get through it all by the end of the month :)

I wholeheartedly agree! :thumbsup2

It's down to the wire! I'm really rooting for you guys! :dance3: I am so respectful, envious & appreciative :worship: of what all of you have accomplished, whether you reach the word mark or not! :cool1: :yay: :cheer2: :dance3:
