Names other than 'grandma.'

So what if they get married before you have kids? Will you not permit them to call her Grandma then either??

My parents are Grandma and Grandpa. When I was a kid we called our grandparents Grandma and Grandpa 'last name'.

DH's parents were Grammie and Papa. Grammie was traditional for their family, and Papa came because my oldest nephew turned Grandpa into Papa. My DDs were the youngest grandchildren, and DD#1 turned Grammie into Googie.

Grammie did not like it at all at first because I think she thought it was something we taught her. But when she realized that DD did it herself, and did it to lots of things that she loved (her bunny was her ****ie, horses were hoobies), she decided it wasn't so bad. My DDs were the only grandchildren who called her that.

When Googie died, the ribbon on her flower arrangement from the grandchildren, chosen by my sisters in law, said "loving Grammie" on one side, and "Loving Googie" on the other.

Keep in mind that two many variations of the word "grandma" can be confusing. Go with something totally different like "nana"

DGD (3) has my mom-grandma, ddil's mom-granna and me--gamma. The other great-grandmother is also grandma and ddi's step-mother is nana. Bless her heart, she would say one name and we would all answer. So now, my mom is GREAT-grandma and I am REGULAR-gamma and ddil's mom is REGULAR granna. And she YELLS that first part when we are all together so that we get it straight.

They aren't getting married. She's been married seven times, and is 'done' with that kind of commitment.

My mom and dad are divoriced.. my mom hated the thought of being called grandma or mom-mom said she felt OLD....so my son calls her HONEY my DH hates it too..LOL.. but even at 14 my son still calls her that...
my son calls my father.. Poppie same that I called his father.
as for my dads girlfriends they are called by their first names... my mom's boyfriend and her have lived together for 20 yrs now so he is called Pop pop _______..

my god-daughter who is 2 calls me mimi....she can't say my name well and was calling me mom for a long time when she started to talk so we had to come up with something different.

My mom is Grandma Barbara, (which unfortuanly for her was hard for my youngest to say for a year or so and she was called Grandma BlahBlah). My MIL and FIL are mawmaw and papa. My dad was Papa Larry.
