Name Your Biggest Holiday Weakness!

Nutcrackers. I usually don't like a bunch of knick knacks cluttering the house up, but I have weakness for nutrackers. The kids counted as we decorated this year - I have 49. The family has forbidden me from buying more but I'm trying to convince them it needs to be a nice even 50 ;)

I nominate this one:

Food. From Thanksgiving until New Years, constant food. Any food. We make Chex party mix for Thanksgiving and once I have a bite of that I want it all day every day. Any other time of the year I actually don't like it. We ran out the other day and I think I'll be making more Monday. I always tell myself to eat up this time of year because my New Years resolution will be to finally go on that diet. Yeah, that never happens.

Christmas ornaments. Every year we buy four or five nice ornaments. Just about every trip we buy one or two. We've long since stopped using anything that came as a set and still there's just not enough room on an eight foot tree.

I have no problem indulging in things that aren't expensive or fattening. I will watch as many Christmas movies, listen to as much Christmas music and look at as many decorations as I possibly can without guilt. I do feel guilty if I eat too much or spend too much, so I will avoid both!

Egg Nog. Drinking an Egg Nog Latte as I type this.
Fruit cake is a close second.

Sweets, especially good fudge. I also love to shop! By January, I'm tired of it and ready to hibernate for the rest of winter.

If we're talking about holidays in the UK sense... anything Disney!

Trees!!! Decorations, Wrapping gifts, Lights, making cookies and fudge!

Every year I buy too many stocking stuffers that I should realistically know are too large to fit in the stockings. Things like scratch art and secret message books, paint by number kits, larger bags of snacks... Stuff that is too small in value to really justify wrapping as gifts, but too physically large to fit in a normal stocking.

This year I decided I'm going to put all of that stuff for each kid in a big, empty character Popcorn tin. Probably won't even wrap it as the tins themselves are pretty cute. I'm pretty excited that they'll now have a dedicated container for all of their art supplies.

My second weakness is procrastination. Last year, the tree didn't go up until a week before Christmas... and didn't come down until June.

Brilliant!

And I will no longer feel guilty for when my stuff came down. :)

Love to bake - love to eat! Something about the cold days!

Won't let myself gain over 5 lbs. as I make myself lose it in January. Then I keep myself in check the rest of winter with moderation - and she's a hard taskmaster! :)

Food. Is that too vague? Booze! ;)

I'm with ya on both!
I usually overdo on seeing "The Nutcracker." The truth is, DD danced in "Nut" with a touring company for ten years? Twelve years? They did 10 shows a season across Maine and New Hampshire, and I went to as many as I possibly could. I've seen that show so many times, I know the choreography! I have "Nutcracker" CDs in the cars and listen to the music all the time, starting in September right after auditions are held and the cast list is posted. Now that DD no longer lives here, I am trying to curb my "Nut" addiction to only one or two shows, and no "Nut" score until after Thanksgiving!!

Those sound wonderful. If you have an extra set of stuff, you can send them my way. :wave2: :teeth:
