For all of you frequent flyers out there. I did something really stupid at 1:00 a.m. I didn't spell my DN's name correctly on her plane ticket. For example her name has a capital letter in the middle like McDonald but I didn't capitalize it. I spelled it like Mcdonald. Will that cause security issues at the airport when she shows them her I.D. and it is different than her ticket? Even though it is somewhat minor? I just noticed it now when the airline confirmation came through on e-mail. It is $100 to change the name :scared1: . I don't really want to spend that much if it won't make a difference at security. I figured all of you who fly alot would be able to let me know if I should panic or not. Thank you for any advice you can give.

My Dh and Ds just flew together and I had noticed that the agent mispelled my son's name on the ticket and when I called to see if it should be corrected the agent said it wasn't a problem as long as he had his id. They just returned and the agent was right.

My name does too - so for example sake lets say my name is McDonald -- my license however has it spelled like this - MC DONALD --- sometime they assume my name is Miss Donald and I have to show them the MC part on my license but generally they get it. I don't think its really a problem since the letters are all the same.

And if your niece is a minor it won't matter at all since she won't show an ID.

Thank you for your replies. It makes me feel relieved to know that my middle of the night mistake won't cause a problem for her. I'm meeting up with her on a connecting flight. While she is an adult and will have to show ID, she does have, shall we say, "issues". Not really disabilities but inability to figure out what to do if there are problems with a situation so I need to know that her first flight will go as smoothly as possible. I will be at the connecting flight to meet her to get her to the gate for our flight to WDW but security isn't an issue there and on the return, I will be with her so it's not an issue at that point either. So thanks again everyone. I appreciate the reassurance. I knew I would get the information I needed here.

I think you'll find that some boarding passes print in all Caps anyway and won't effect that in any way.

I never thought about that, but now that you mentioned it I'm thinking Midwest does print them all in caps. I'm not sure if I have an old one laying around, I'll have to go look. Thank you for reminding me of that. Then it really wouldn't matter would it? Whew.

I've misspelled names on tickets before and just called the airline and they corrected it. When they say $100 for name change, I believe that means if you are giving that ticket to someone else (not a spelling correction).
