This may seem like a weird question but does anyone know of a way to have them put a particular name on the KTTW card? By that, I mean, I use my middle name but put my full name on the reservation since this is what is on my passport.

On my RCCL cruise, I kept getting called Stephanie (my real first name) instead of Tara (my usual name). This was annoying!! Even on my birthday, everyone but my actual waiter sang "Happy Birthday" to Stephanie!!

Are your keys already printed by the time you check in or do they create them when you get there?

I know they can make new ones. Not sure about the names but it's worth it to ASK when yoiu check in at the terminal. They might be able to put your first name in parenthesis so it would match with your passport but would be obvious that folks should call you Tara. Hey the worst that can happen is they say no and you get called Stephanie.

No harm in asking. But because that's your legal name , you may be stuck. My parents always intended for me to be known by my middle name, so I've dealth with the same thing for 47 years.
Helps me sort out calls from salesmen though, since they ask for me by my first name. And it has caused a few hassles at work when we get a new boss, they can never find my paycheck the first few times since they are looking for my middle name, and the payroll clerk refuses to even put an initial for my middle name.
I always have to think twice when making plane, cruise or rental car reservations, or anything I pay by credit card, since my credit card is in my legal name.

For the longest time, I would say "wrong number" and then hang up and think "oh that was for me". Problem I have now is that each of my names starts with an initial that is my mother or father's name so mail comes and I don't know if it's for me!!

I know what you mean about work. When I first started one place, someone named Stephanie kept sending my mail back!!

Maybe I should make up a sticker to go on my KTTW card that says "I go by Tara" or something.

Thanks for the ideas.

Int's not all the payroll departments fault. Your check has to be in your legal name that is on your SS card. Though I can't understand why they won't put an initial. The only reason I can think of is they have run out of allowable spaces on the form. Is your first and last name very long?

Sorry.

Hey I have a double first name, that's no fun either.

I have 2 friends with the same problem. They both go by their first initial and middle name. For example Mary Jane Smith lists herself as M. Jane Smith and goes by Jane. (This is not either of my friends names.) And as for paychecks they will go by what you tell them. If you tell them first initial, middle name, last name they will do that. As long as your social security number has both first and middle names that should be no problem.

No, my name isn't too long, Just the preference of the payroll clerk. My full legal name is on my SS card, but it never is on my check or tax documents my company sends out.
Other problem is I work the graveyard shift. There are a LOT of folks that work dayside that have no idea who I am.
Had one salesperson ask who I was when she came in early one morning. She said she had been there 2 years, and sometimes she doesn't meet the "new hires". I burst I bubble when I mentioned I'd been working there 15 years!!!!

When I began dating my husband, I realized that we needed to name our children what they were going to be called. He would always get everything addressed to "William ------". That was his father's name as well, so mail at their house was an issue. Now we live on the same road as his parents, as well as another "William -------" who is a distant relative. :earseek: Needless to say, our poor mailman has to stay on his toes!!!::yes::

Both our children's first names are what we call them.
