Name 1 thing you think will be better in America if Kerry is elected.

What reproductive rights? You can have a baby whenever you want. That pretty much sounds like having the right of reproduction.

Sure..but I believe, as many do, that my reproductive rights should also extend to not having a baby if I so choose. (And yes, I do realize what causes women to have children. And that it's, for the most part, preventable. And that there are ways to avoid the issue completely. So you don't need to tell me.)

Regardless, the current administration doesn't seem to agree with me and seems to be putting pressure on scientists, the FDA, and the courts to limit my or any other woman's choices when it comes to managing our fertility. (e.g. the current flap over availability of the Morning After Pill; appointing David Hager to the FDA's advisory committee for reproductive health -- Dr. Hager, who refuses to prescribe contraceptives of any sort to his patients, who opposes not just abortion, but emergency contraception as well, on purely religious -- not medical -- grounds)

Kerry supports requiring insurance plans to cover contraceptives; Bush does not. Kerry believes in a woman's right to choose; Bush does not.

Great post, SoonerKate. Amen. Or, as we say in Texas, Hook'em Horns! (Sorry- I had to put that last bit in when I saw you were from OK);)

I'll let Gary Trudeau say it for me today:

Well, I am certainly not stating that you should be denied your constitutional rights in anyway. I also think you should get our there and cast your vote no matter what you believe. I'm just saying, Texas ain't going to Kerry.
I agree with you which is frustrating. I'm not a Bush fan so I can easily say that it's been difficult to first have him as governor and then see him locked in as President. I will still vote my conscience however.

I hate to say it but I agree with Trudeau's cartoon. (Miracles DO happen! ) I watched a panel discussion on Fox News the other day and they spoke quite eloquently of the hate for the U.S. in the Arab world and how much it seems to have grown.

You want me to just pick one??? Wow, that's hard to say, there's so many to choose from.

Hmmm....nope, can't do it.

Funding for education, honesty in the White House, foreign relations, protection of a woman's right to choose, fairness to taxpayers, stem cell research...I could go on and on......

I don't know, but I am sure if he is elected I will find out, because I will be poorer than I am now!

I can't say I am thrilled with either canidate. I think both are rich politicians who are not in touch with the needs of middle class America. How can one know what a struggling family of four needs when they probabley pay more for there ties than I do for a whole outfit! (including shoes) Having said that I think Kerry is the lesser of two evils. Not to say Bush is evil just clueless. My hope is Kerry will quiet the "Big sucking sound" that is all our jobs being sucked overseas. I have to laugh at all these new jobs the rep.s boast about . What they don't tell you is there all at walmart , Mcdonald's and Home Depot. Who can support a family on 6.50 an hour?? We are slowly becoming a country of have and have nots. Soon we will all work at jobs waiting on the people who HAVE all the money. Gone are the days when you had job security and could count on having a job to go to if you chose to. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't consider being a greeter at Walmart a career.

America's reputation in the rest of the world will be much better, but nevertheless it will be a tough job for Kerry & Edwards to repair the damage Bush and his cronies have done.

I couldn't agree with you more.

For those that have put Foreign Relations at the top of Kerry's improvement list I have one question for you.

How many more attacks on American Soil will it take to convince you that we are at WAR and that we (The US OF A) need to watch out for ourselves regardless of what the "World Community" thinks.

Do you think the election outcome in Spain and subsequent withdraw of troops from Iraq will prevent further attacks in Spain?

Do you realize that Islam (the extremists) calls for any land (country) that was once part of the Islamic Empire to return to Islamic rule. (Spain was part of the Islamic Empire).

Did appeasement for Neville Chamberlain ???

Not a darned thing.

Ooops, I take that back. MA might have a senator that shows up for votes.

Absolutly nothing good. Unless he changes his mind, then changes it back, and then back again.

We will have a first lady who has openly stated she hates it here in the US and wanted to raise her children in her own country.

honesty in the White House, foreign relations, protection of a woman's right to choose, fairness to taxpayers,

Since you brought this up, Honesty in the White House since when did Democrats care about honesty in the White House???? They sure did not care when Clinton was in there... They even backed him all the way.

Foreign relations - hate to tell you this, but the foreign relation problem started way back when Clinton was in there. The terroist started their planning when he was in the White House.

Protection of a woman's right ot choose - now that is a joke... Kerry and Edwards have both voted against and have just recently STATED that they are AGAINST this. Of course this could all be a another lie to just win votes.

Fairness to Taxpayers When you call taking away the money from middle class fair... well, I sure dont.

I can tell from this thread that I really dont want to have anymore to do with anymore political threads because they are just a bunch of junk. People are set on their beliefs and these threads really are not going to change anyone's mind. So I am just wasting my time answering to them.

From now on I will stay with the fun threads.

Bethshaya, I'd love to see a link supporting that

First of all, last I checked President Clinton isn't in this race. Secondly, if all Bush did was lie about sex, I wouldn't be complaining. I'm not too sure, but I don't think anyone died because President Clinton had sex with someone and didn't tell the truth about it.

Actually, terrorism started well before President Clinton. Bin Laden was spurred to action by Bush #1 and the Gulf War. Besides that, you missed the point, which is that Bush #2 has done untold damage to our relationships with other countries, not that he caused terrorists to start making plans.

Protection of a woman's right ot choose - now that is a joke... Kerry and Edwards have both voted against and have just recently STATED that they are AGAINST this.

You want to provide a link that shows Edwards or Kerry is in favor of banning a woman's right to choose? You can't.

Fairness to Taxpayers When you call taking away the money from middle class fair... well, I sure dont.

Want to provide a link where Kerry says he wants to increase taxes on the middle class? You can't.

Yes, wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone was as open minded and willing to change as you are??

I heard that England wants Tony Blair to step down because of the weapons of mass destruction fiasco. Can we ask Bush to step down for the same reason?:D

Vote Kerry:sunny:

My opinion is that we had a real opportunity after 9-11 to have most of the world powers back us in our fight against terrorism. IMO, the current administration has squandered every ounce of goodwill shown to us by other countries. The "your either with us or against us" position is just one example of goodwill gone amuck.
