Well, I'm gonna type out my situation, and then who ever feels the need to read it can reply :).

If we go, we are staying 6 nights (4 days in the Parks, 1 day off, then the arrival and departure days). This is what I assumed for food (all meals are quick service except one, and prices are assumed for one person):
Day of Arrival: Lunch in an Airport (about $10), then Dinner at the hotel ($15)
Park Day 2, 3, 5, 6: Breakfast at hotel ($5, we are big breakfast people each day), Lunch and Dinner in park ($15 each meal, each day), and snack ($5)
Day Off: Breakfast at hotel ($5, assuming we wake up early enough), Lunch at DTD or BW ($15), then Dinner at Boma ($30 give or take a $1), snack ($5)
Day of Departure (we will request a late check-out): Breakfast at hotel ($5 again assuming we wake up early enough), Lunch at the Airport ($10)

So that comes out to be $255 (again give or take a few dollars). So assuming (no discount, rack rate) Vacation package from Disney is $918.44 for the two of us thats $459.22 per person plus the $255 it equals $714.22.

Now if we book it with the Dining package its $ 1338.18/ or $669.09 per person. Then if we add $50 (for 6 breakfasts @ $5 each, 2 meals in airports for $10 each) we get $719.09. It's only $5 more.

I understand the Dining Plan has its limitations (like not all restaurants are covered, like Wolfgang Puck Express, my fave and Snacks are only ice cream, pop corn, or soda).

The thing I'm worried is, that with the table service restaurants, you get an appitizer, entree, and dessert. I'm scared its just too much food for me to eat. Have any of you had that problem, it being too much food to eat? I don't want to over stuff my self (even though we will be eatting dinner (thats when we'll use the table service part of the dinning plan) after we leave the parks).

Um I had another question but I forgot it now. Sorry.. I don't know, what do you guys think?

You might want to search for other threads regarding the dining plan lately. Many new restaurants have been added, including Wolfgang Express, this may influence your decision! I am really bad at remembering what things cost, but I think $15 is a little high for a counter service meal and I think $5 for breakfast sounds a little low, myself.

Hi :wave2: ,

My dh and I are going in June and decided to do the dining plan this time because it gave us the flexibility of eating at several places we wouldn't on a limited budget and gave us the freedom to not really look at prices but order what we want. We will be sharing a dinner or two I'm sure because there is so much food. We plan to use a couple of our Table Service meals together to have a nice dinner at a Signature place. We are also staying for 6 nights and bought the dinning plan for 6 nights. It's $70/day for us and adds up to $420 add tax and it's probably closer to $450 which is a great deal because the last time we went one nice sit down dinner was a $100 alone.

As for your budget, it's not bad but if ya'll are like us you get tired of fried foods or hamburgers quickly which is the cheaper items on the menus in the parks. From reading another thread I noticed that Wolfgang's is now on the dining plan as well as several new places in Epcot and DTD.

I don't know that I answered your question at all but wanted to share why we are using the dining plan and why we think it's a good thing.

Hope your trip goes great!

In addition to the new restaurants snacks now inlude a pop, a water, a juice, a popcorn, a bag of Frito Lay chips , or a peice of fruit.

Yeah I completely missed the thread about the restaurants added! But I've seen it now.

As for the $5 for breakfast, I doubt we'll even eat breakfast, we aren't planning to wake up until 10 or 11ish (do they even still serve breakfast then?) and like I said, we aren't much breakfast people anyways. I'm thinking we'd get something like a piece of fruit or a danish or something like that.

Meals can vary in the quick service restaurants. Most of the time I don't think we'll spend $15 for a meal, but ya never know when someone's gonna want a beer or something like that. I know the Dining Plan doesn't include alcoholic beverages and so does my bf, but I don't know just yet.

And yes finding out the Wolfgang Puck Express is now on the Dining plan.. WHOOOOO WEEEEEE! I'm excited.

You don't HAVE to order all the food that the dining plan allows. If you won't want an appetizer, or if you want to split an appetizer or dessert, that's ok.
In your original post you stated, "we are big breakfast people each day", and then another post, "we aren't much breakfast people anyways". The plan will definitely be worth it if you only plan two meals a day.

LOL! That was a typo. We are NOT big breakfast people. LOL! I'm so sorry! God I'm an idiot! ;)

Ok, everyone here seems to be for the dining plan. Is it difficult to keep up with? We will be 2 adults, DS11, and DS5. We were thinking that we will be 2 meals a day with snacks. Would the plan be good for us? I am clueless on the plan! :confused3

Personally, I don't think the plan is hard to follow. I haven't used it yet, but I'm kinda OCD and so I plan everything out til the second. The only thing I can think of that would be hard is the PS time. Because when we are going, the only park we will eat dinner (which will be table service) is Epcot, because it closes are 9 or something. All the other parks close earlier, AK at like 5, MK at like 7, and MGM at 8. So we are gonna plan dinner afterwards at a resort nearby. But that might all change if we do EMH at night.

The only other problem I see with you jenniskinni is your 11 yo. I believe he has to eat off the adult menu, not the child menu.

But I believe the dining plan works easy, you give your card (it might be your room key) to the waiter/waitress, and it takes off that meal.

So for us, we are staying 6 nights, thats:
6 Quick Service Meals
6 Table Service Meals
6 Snacks

So we go to Wolfgang Puck Express. I give my card at the cashier, she swipes it, and it goes from 6 Quick Service Meals to 5.

I think its worth it for you:

The meal plan is only costing you $5.00 more & in return you can have a nice sit down dinners instead of quick serve. You could also do a late sit down breakfast/lunch & use your counter for dinner. Since the snacks include fruit now, you could have that for breakfast or split a counter breakfast. You also should have enough CS left to have a meals to grab a bite when you arrive & before heading to the airport saving an additional $40 pp.

You are a freaking genius!!!!! I never thought of that! Course we'll see how it works out!

hmm well I dunno.. Lemme type out my basic food itinerary.. and then you type out yours, cuz I'mnot really seeing it:

Arrive:
B (home)
L (airport)
D (Quick Service Hotel or Boma if we do EMH evening at AK on AK day)
S (Not sure yet, maybe none)

Epcot:
B (hotel)
L (Quick Service)
D (Table Service)
S (wherever)

MK:
B (hotel)
L (Quick Service)
D (Table Service)
S (wherever)

Day Off:
B (hotel)
L (Wolfgang Puck Express!)
D (Yatchsman's Steakhouse)
S (wherever)

AK:
B (hotel)
L (Quick Service)
D (Quick Service if on EMH Evening, or Boma if not)
S (wherever)

MGM:
B (hotel)
L (Quick Service)
D (Table Service)
S (wherever)

Leave:
B (hotel)
L (either hotel or airport)

OK...I'm assuming your staying at AKL. Are you big eaters? Would you want to split any counter meals? I would split some counter meals so you have the extra for either a breakfast or the extra counter you would need on the last day.

arrive

1 C Mara
1 SD BOMA
1 S fruit for breakfast the next day

Epcot:

1 C (this would be a good one to split there's alot more choices now)
1 SD

MK:

1 C
1 SD at monorail resort

Day off:

B- you'll probably miss this & sleep in
1 C wolfgang puck express
2 SD YS
S breakfast for tomorrow (you'll be full from all the food today)

AK

1 C Tusker or Flame tree (good place to split again)
1 snack
1 C for dinner (if you have split other meals)

MGM:

1 C pancakes or scrambled egg platter or use for lunch
1 SD

Leave:

B - use up any extra snacks
1 C - you should have an extra each if you had split during the week

I think I did this right. What do you think?

Is it worth it even if one or two nights you want to eat somewhere that is not on the plan? I would like to eat at the Rainforest Cafe at least once and I'm planning a 2 week trip.

Also, do you have to use the snack each day or can they carry over from day to day? Like Monday, no snack and then Tuesday get 2 snacks...

You don't hve to eat a QUota each day- can save all the snacks for the last day, or eat three sit down meals in a single day- toatlly up to you how you use them.

Also there is no tax on the 35 per day charge- that is the total fee, but it DOES INCLUD tax and tip on the meal you're ordering.

If you eat at a signature restaurant that requires 2 meal options, (we are using 2 for HDDR), then you can still use all of the sit down options and still be able to eat at a restaurant not on the plan.
And yes, the snacks, as well as the sit down, and counter service meals, all carry over. They are banked into one card and you can use them whenever you want.

If your not going until 2008 you should come over to the rewards board. There's a great email/shopping site called mypoints.com you can "cash out" for different rewards. RFC is included. I just cashed out again for (3) $25.00 gift cards to use at RFC this August. Its a great program.

The only other problem I see with you jenniskinni is your 11 yo. I believe he has to eat off the adult menu, not the child menu.

This is probably good, because he would rather not eat from the kids menu. OK, now I have to find the thread that has the participating restaurants because I have already make PSs. Thank you!

We'll be staying at Pop or All-Stars. We aren't very big eaters either. And yes your basic itinerary works! Man do I love these message boards. Thanks!
