Has anyone tried this? I'm leaving Saturday for my 5/18 Magic cruise and am considering going on Friday PM to try it. I'm a little nervous about it since I know no one that has done this. I'm a fair-pink brunette/redhead that burns and freckles with a pink base. I would love to have an allover light tan for the cruise. Thanks for any info anyone might have.

I haven't tried that brand, but Estee Lauder makes a nice mist that you can get in either light or dark. The mist seems to help prevent streaking and it's been the best I've used so far. I think it runs around $25.

Is that the place where you step in and they mist you with the tanning stuff? I have seen that on different news stories and it looks interesting! If you try it please let us know what you think; I'm interested too! :)

That's the one, Michelle! If I don't have time to post the info on my experience with it before I leave, I'll be sure to let ya'll know when I get back from my cruise. I do know that it is $25 for one visit and you can purchase a package which makes it cheaper overall. I found a coupon to the place I'm going on the Valpak website for "buy one visit, get one free". Somebody told me that it is supposed to last 2-3 weeks, but the website for purchasing the booth says that it lasts 3-4 days. But I'm sure they would want you to come back more often.

WOW! This sounds so cool! I've never heard of it before. Please keep us posted on your experience.

Have a great time on your cruise!!!

Lori-

Keep in mind that this is a FAKE tan. You will have NO, I mean ZERO, protection from the sun, and will still need to slather on the SPF 45.

Lori1035...
Thanku very much for sharing!! Other than tanning lotion, I was wondering how we were going to look like anything but ghosts in December...LOL!! Tanning by sun or booth is really not an option for our fair skin family!! I was so curious I checked out the website. Sounds worth checking into. FYI this is a link to one of many. http://www.sunless.com/mystictan.html

Lori,

We're on the 5/18 Magic cruise too!!! I've tried the Mystic Tan. I, like you, am very fair but I decided to try it. I've done 3 sessions and have 1 to go on Thursday the day before we leave. What happens is they have you watch a video before your session. What you do is remove your clothing, put a hospital-type cap over your hair, apply a barrier cream to your toenails, fingernails and palms of your hands. I also applied in between the toes and around the heel area. You step into the booth, press the button, and you are sprayed for 14 seconds. It stops, you have 10 seconds to turn around and you are sprayed again for 14 seconds. You stay in the booth for 30 seconds more and then come out. You remove the barrier cream with baby wipes that are supplied, remove the cap, and dry yourself off with a towel. You then put on your clothes and go about your day. You will notice your tan in about 4-6 hours. It lasts about 7 days or so. Remember, though, this is a fake tan so you will still need to apply sunscreen!!! Actually I love the Mystic Tan. It is even and is a great color -- not orangy at all!! HTH

Lisa, do you have any trouble with excess on the knees? That has always been a problem for me with tan in a bottle. No matter how much I exfoliate or moisturize before, my knees are always darker.

See you soon!

Lori, no excess on the knees or elbows. This is the most even "tan" I've gotten. I always have trouble with excess when using the tan in a bottle too. I forgot to mention for the best results, exfoliate and moisturize before your Mystic Tan. See you in 3 days!!!

Lisa, one more question. Does it spray your face? I'm not sure that I would want that. My makeup might not match after tanning.

Thanks,
Lori

And people PAY for this?!?!?!?. Sounds like something they'd do on NBC's "Fear Factor"!

Yes, it does spray on your face, but in the 3 times I've been I still can use the same foundation. HTH

Dave, Dave, no one forces you to eat cow brains when you do it! ;)

For those of us who use self-tanners (and LOTS of sunscreen) I think it sounds GREAT...fast and efficient. There aren't too many of these places close to me but if there was I'd do it in a heartbeat before a cruise. :)

I was hoping one of these would be near me in NY but it doesn't seem like they've come to us yet. I am very fair skinned and would like just a little healthy color. I have to be careful in the sun now because two years ago I have Mohs surgery on my nose for skin cancer. I had a wonderful surgeon and no one can even tell.

Just listening to a local radio station and they just mentioned this company. It's the morning FM radio station girl announcer telling about it, two guy announcers goofing saying it would be like being shallacked. And what would they wear, they wouldn't go in naked they would go in in undies. Very fast very funny banter. What timing.
