Mystery at Sea

Today's Morse Code message states:

Our monkeys are not apes.

I don't know about you folks, but I think the Disney Cruise Line is having fun making monkeys out of all of us here in this wild & crazy thread.
From Howstuffworks.com:
To make a long story short, "ape" and "monkey" are not synonymous. Apes, such as gorillas and chimpanzees, have evolved along parallel lines with human beings, and are quite close to us in a number of respects (chimpanzees and humans share 98 percent of their genetic material). On the evolutionary tree, apes are no more monkeys than we are

From the "Tourist Attractions in Gibraltar: The Rock, Monkeys, and More" webpage

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/18126/tourist_attractions_in_gibraltar_the.html:

2. Barbary Apes. Despite their mislabeling as apes, these tail-less monkeys have made a name for themselves on Gibraltar. Debate exists as to whether these macaques, the only free-roaming primates in continental Europe besides humans, were introduced from Morocco by the British (in an attempt to domesticate the animals), by the Spanish, or by the Moors before them. Regardless of how they got to Gibraltar from North Africa, these wild but friendly monkeys live near the crest of the Rock in an area known as the Apes’ Den. It has been said that the Brits will continue to rule Gibraltar so long as the monkeys continue to live on the Rock, so the government has taken special care to ensure the future of these adorable macaques. Tourists often feed the monkeys, and the less shy macaques will occasionally climb onto willing humans. The Barbary Apes are basically semi-wild monkeys, so even though they’re used to people, they’re can still be dangerous and should be approached carefully.
Are the Med cruises stopping at Gibraltar or are they just passing by?

I can't be Alaska or Hawaii, because they are announcing it at the World showcase at EPCOT.
I wonder if I should show up at EPCOT on Tuesday..... Maybe they will be giving away a free cruise? :teeth:

An idea.... I am going to call guest services at EPCOT this morning, to see where in the World Showcase it will be announced and at what time. Maybe they will slip and say it will be in front of the France Pavillion or UK Pavillion...

I think they mean the big hall between UK and Canada in Epcot. I have been there for several large events and it's a perfect place to hold a major news conference / announcement.

Today's Morse Code message states:

Our monkeys are not apes.

For continuity, I thought I would also post what was stated in today’s version of the Great Britain Gazette on the Mystery At Sea webpage:

Ship Sighted
Sends New Transmission!

March 17 – 48° 48’N, 2° 20’E –
After more than a week of strange messages and false leads, authorities reportedly came very close to locating the Disney Magic ® cruise liner. Upon glimpsing what was believed to be the elusive ship late last night, officials in accordance with maritime law sent a transmission requesting the liner to anchor its position. But on arrival at the cruise liner’s purported location, the ship was nowhere to be found, although an alleged glowing “pixie trail” was glimpsed in the sky by several naval officers. Soon after, yet another message was received.

Port of Gibraltar is probably one of Magic's Transatlantic port stop.

Here's my Itinerary scenarios:

1. East Bound Transatlantic: Port Canaveral - Castaway Cay - New York - Southampton, UK - Le Havre, France.

2. Mediterranean Bound: Le Havre, France - Lisbon, Portugal - Port of Gibraltar - Barcelona, Spain.

3. 10 days and 11 days Mediterranean: Barcelona, Spain - Villafranche (Nice/Monte Carlo) , France - Marseille, France - Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy - Naples, Italy - Venice, Italy.

6 ports of call for 11 day and 5 ports of call for 10 day.

OK, I agree that the sound over the tea cup is either a Cash Register or an adding machine (it could also be an old style slot machine which would seem to indicate either Torremolinos, Spain :cool1: or Monte Carlo). Asumming it is a register or adding machine are they telling us to add something up? :teacher: and, if so, what should we be adding? Any thoughts? :confused3

Oh, its also worth mentioning, that the news article mentions "False and misleading information" but what was false and what was true? :badpc:

I wonder why the 4th message and Morse code is still not listed at the bottom of the page like the other messages are. This would be the one with the title "Disney Magic Mystery Deepens".

I don't think they have posted the clues and morse code at the bottom of the page until they put out a new one at the top or it has been out for a day or so.

If they go to Gilbraltor, they have to stop at Tangiers. It is sooo close!!!
PLEASE DCL Stop at Tangiers!!!! :wave2:

1. Magic awaits. The Queen just loves the pie.
2. Magic and Wonder waits. We sail tomorrow for uncharted waters.
3. Magic awaits - Hot lava has gone to the birds.
4. Enjoying the Pigeons and the embrace
5. Locked in with the count.
6. Our monkeys are not apes.

Anyone make any sense of this together?

Here is a thought... what are the items that repeat with different numbers? i.e. medals.... What if the number of them indicate which word in each of the the messages we should take? Anyone have the history of the items so we can try to piece it together...? :surfweb:

No, actually, someone stated earlier that they do this sort of a thing with employees all the time and that often they use numbers to tell you what words to pick from... if they are doing that this time, its more complex than it seems...

Does anyone think, that just maybe Disney will give the plans for the third ship. And since it will be built in Eroupe it will do cruises there unill September when it would come home to prt Canaveral while the magic, since a rail was removed so it could go through the canal, would do a world cruiseand maybe permanatly moved to the West Coast? just a thought.

This sounds nice, but do you think they'd be ready for a repo in Sept'07.

Wow, new ships! The Disney Dream and the Disney Imagine. Sounds good, doesn't it?
