Looking to the DIS for hotel advise. We are looking @ the Myrtle Beach area for some much needed R&R after my DH has some minor back surgery. Looking for someplace on the quieter side with an efficiency or kitchen. Cleanliness a must as well as ocean front view. We haven't had a vacation in over 5 years so as much as it's a place for him to recuperate, I wouldn't mind something newer. Can that be done for under $140/night? Can't afford lavish but don't want run down either. TIA

Hi- we have stayed at the Grande Shores and they have condos with a full kitchen. Very nice and clean (of course this was a couple of years ago).

The last time that we were down, we stayed at the Springmaid resort... not new, but HUGE rooms and VERY quiet. We loved it.
They don't have kitchenettes, but they have a little restaurant on site and lots of their packages include breakfast.

We have also stayed at Dayton House (older, kitchenette, very friendly and quiet)

Holiday Inn Pavillion- Do NOT stay here... very loud

Hotel Blue- very clean, nice

I hope you have a wonderful vacation and that hubby makes a quick recovery.

If you want quieter, I would look for something in the North Myrtle Beach area. If you don't want to lay out by the pool, the Avista Resort would be OK. The pool issue comes from the curvature of the building and the open parking underneath. I stayed there in May a couple of years ago, and the wind just whipped though there at the pool. Now, they do have an indoor pool, so you could do that.

EDIT: check travelzoo.com for good MB deals.
