mypoints redemptions for Disney

I've done the Rainforest Cafe cards in the past, but I remember talk of redeeming for Walgreens gift cards, then using those to buy disney gift cards, then using those to buy park tickets...anyone every do this?
Whew! Maybe I should just stick with RC...

Can you buy a gift card with a gift card? I would never have thought of that, I have a lot of mypoints right now and was trying to figure out how I could turn them into "Disney dollars". If anyone has done this I would love to hear your experiences

Check with your local store first... ours will not accept Walgreen's gift cards as payment for any other type of gift card... I tried this at Christmas with no luck.

I personally haven't tried it, but there was a big thread about this a while back, and people were reporting having luck using Walgreens gc's to buy Disney gc's. But it definitely seems to depend on the store, so I'd only cash out for Walgreens if you shop there anyway and won't be stuck with a giftcard you can't use.

I just cashed out for $150 worth of Landry's giftcards that I am going to use for breakfast at RFC and dinner at Yak & Yeti. Those aren't necessarily my first choice in dining at WDW, but they are free meals so I'm going with that. Easier IMO than worrying about whether the Walgreens deal will work for me.

I know some people have had luck "buying" Disney gift cards with Walgreens gift cards, but it seems to vary from store to store. I just recently cashed out a $10 Walgreens gift card to try... figure at only $10, it won't be a HUGE loss if it doesn't work. And if it does work, then I'll cash out for more in the future. I'm hesitant to cash out for RC cards in case we end up not wanting to eat there. We do have one here locally, though, if that does happen, I guess. Then we could always use it here at some point. But once I get my Walgreens card, I'll get back on here and post whether or not it works.

I've been using them for WalMart cards to buy the groceries for our upcoming trip. Others have mentioned that you can cash out for a Target card, and then use that to buy a Disney card. I haven't tried that yet.

I didn't know about the Yak and Yeti idea though - that might be a good one too.

Just get a card for where you would normally shop on a monthly/weekly basis...Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, etc (I'm not sure what cards are available...)

Then the cash you would have spent that month that you didn't need to b/c you had the Mypoints card, use that cash to buy a Disney Gift Card

I have used the Walgreens Gold gift cards from Mypoints to buy the Disney giftcards before. The gift gold colored gift card does not say that you can not buy gift cards with them like the other gift cards say.

I tried and my store would not let me. Heck they wouldn't even let me use a debit card to buy a gc cash only.

Just before Christmas I cashed out for a $50 Walgreens g.c. I went to Walgreens and purchased a $50 Disney g.c. and a gallon of milk. I didn't ask if I could purchase the Disney card, I just did it....and the clerk didn't have any problem with it.

I have have successfully used my Walgreens GC from MyPoints to purchase a Disney GC three times this year. All three purchases were for $25 gift cards. The first time, I was told the computer wouldn't allow it and the Manager was a real poo. I went to another Walgreens and the Manager said "Let's give it a try!" It worked just fine, and it hasn't been a problem since.

Our school scrip program sells Disney gift cards that I buy each week. I see the Walgreens percentage is higher. This is a great idea if my Walgreens would let me buy a gift card with a gift card!

So I guess it would be a big no at those.

I purchase gas gift cards with MY Points, since we drive to Disney this is a great way to off set the cost of travel. I get different company gas cards so I am not locked into any one station.

Also we use Speedway a lot, I redeem the reward points from that to get gas cards also. One my last trip I only had to pay out of pocket for one fill up, all the rest was gas cards. About $200 in all.
