My very first PIN!! (questions...)

First off,

I GOT A PIN!!!

Okay, Now that thats out of the way I have a few questions (of course)

If I book with Disney or a travel agent I know I have to put down $200 for a package. Does that have to be paid with a credit card or can I send a check/money order in the mail? I ask because DBF and I are debit free, and actually don't even have debit cards! No huge deal if it does, but it would be MUCH more convienent for us if we didn't!

Also, when is the last day I can make changes (including totally canceling) to our package without a fee.

And lastly, we want to go in dec. and my PIN is valid for 11/27-12/3/11 12/11-12/24/11. I think we've narrowed it down to wanting to go either 11-27 to 11-3 or 12-11 to 12-17. Which week do you think will be better in terms of crowds? The week after Thanksgiving or the week before Christmas week...

Not sure but it might be a problem when you check in as they'll want a deposit to cover incidentals. And you will not be able to use the KTTW to charge...

I pay my CC in full every month, but would be crazy not to have a card...

Already figured that part out, you don't HAVE to have a credit card on file We wouldn't charge anything to our KTTW card anyways... And if we do decide to we can add cash to it.

I have that pin too, but never got an email about it. When I went to make my reservation, I mentioned that I was receiving emails for my dad from Disney and he got one. I tried using his PIN but they would not let me use it. CM then told me she would check my name...and guess what, I had the same one. Bad thing is it will only apply to one of our six nights we are staying.

Still hoping for free dining!

If I remember correctly, my husband was told by a CM that he could book a trip and it would stay on file for 2 weeks without payment allowing time for a check payment to be mailed. That was a few years ago and I am not positive that I have the facts straight. Doesn't hurt to call and ask!

You can cancel your trip with no fees up to 45 days before the trip is set to begin (which is when it has to be paid in full).

Just an FYI...When we mailed our check last year it took 3 weeks for them to apply the payment. We had even called to make sure we had the correct address. If I were you I would buy a Disney gift card or prepaid Visa and make the payment that way.

Right now I'm helping a friend plan a trip who is also card-free, and we've decided on Disney gift cards to pay her deposit and balance. I can still get them at Sam's Club, $100 card for $98. Not a huge savings, but still ...

your proposed dates. I don't think it matters. Christmas is on a Sunday. Many of the schools will begetting out the week before and the crowds will be crazy then. But by leaving the 17th you'll just be missing most of them. Same thing for Thanksgiving. The crowds will be gone by the time you arrive.

YEA!! So excited for you. And *jealous* but those aren't my dates. Congrats!

Does anyone know if it matters if you have already put your deposit down or not as to if that effects the possibility of getting PINS? Thanks!

I understand about you wanting to be credit free We just paid off the last of our CC balances today

Last year when I booked they extended the hold on our rooms for 30 days so that we could have a little longer to pay. I had a pin for free dining and it was going to expire but we needed the month to get the deposit paid. They were nice enough to hold it for the 30 days without canceling the reservation

We do still keep 1 Credit Card to use for Rental Cars, Hotel Holds, etc. I used to work in the accounting department at a resort and every day I would get calls from frantic ppl regarding the hold on their checking accounts becuase they used a debit card for incedentials at the hotel

Hope you have a great trip, I would also try to stay clear the weeks around Christmas because it will be crazy busy.

And... just to let you know. I used Small world Vacations to book my trip. They are an official Disney Travel agents. (Dawn is amazing!)

Anyway, they can book with you Pin, request your rooms and she is making our ADR as well.

When you have questions, she will answer all of them, and you are not going to feel like you are being "SOLD" on everything.

I called Disney a few times when I was trying to decide what I wanted and they all had different answers. SW have me the + and - of each plan based on my family and my needs.

AND.. she could reserve my vacation and told me that I could mail her a check (MADE OUT DIRECTLY to Disney).

The BEST part, is that if I decide to cancel my vacation before the 45 days I get ALL of my money back, including the 200.00. With small world, they do not make an "insurance" payment till the end and only if you want it. So basically, I will save my "insurance" money.

I believe they will hold the reservations for 7 days. Make sure you get the money in there on within that hold period or you will loose your reservation. Since the pin codes only have a certain number of rooms attached to it, if you go to rebook you might not get your choice. Also, there is no law that says you need a credit card to stay in a hotel.
