Hi all,
I am doing much better with the new chemo than I did with the first kind. The only problem with this one is that it causes numbness of the fingers and toes. I can take the toe numbness but it is so hard to type with finger numbness. So if I make mistakes be kind.
I had chemo today and the two bags of steroids that help prevent allergic reactions have kept me up all night. But my house is nice and clean.
Only ONE more Chemo to go, on Feb 17th. You will hear roars and cheers that day louder than anything they can produce at the superbowl.
I have surgery scheduled for Feb 11th to try and remove all the dead tissue in the surgical site. I have had a large 4 1/2 cm deep wound since September that just won't heal while I am on chemo. The chemo is killing all my healthy tissue as it is designed to go after the fast growing cells of which cancer is the fastest growing. They haven't learned yet how to differentiate fast growing cancer cells from fast growing hair and skin cells so I have to pay the price.
I see the radiation oncologist on the 16th and she will determine if I am a candidate for radiation. My oncologist told me to be prepared for a rejection at this time. I might have to wait till the summer for radiation because they don't like to radiate near open wounds. Something about the radiation doing damage to the skin and the tissue won't close. So treatment might last longer than I though. But I will be covered on Long Term disability by April so funds wil be less tight.
Looks like the planned and long desired cruise is off for this year. I am all set to go but I wanted to take my entire family with me. Now that I am going to be a grandmother things have changed. My pregnant daughter in law won't be able to go with us so I am calling off the cruise. I will take them all next year. I wouldn't have as great a time if my son and DIL weren't there to celebrate my heath with the rest of us.
So mark your calendars and set up the prayer chains for Feb 11 and the 16th. I need all I can get. Peggie

Hi Peggie
ONE MORE....wow! We have waited a long time to hear those words!

Even though there is a lot scheduled for February, at least know that once you are into March, your body, (other than healing) can rest now! That chemo really beats a body up.

Missing you.....keep your spirits up....your positive outlook has helped you this far woman!

Hugs and more hugs!!!!!!

Peggie, I am always delighted to see posts from you even if it was written in the middle of the night :). You always "sound" so strong in your posts. Keep the faith & February wiill hopefully be over before you know it! Continued thoughts & prayers ....

I am glad to hear you only have 1 more to go!

Wishes and prayers.

yeaaaaa! Peggie!

glad to hear it's almost over! you'll soon be back up dancing like a teenager!

great news!

Heather,
I couldn't dance before chemo, does this mean I can now? lol/
Today is a tough day, my fingers are more numb. The only thing that is hard is that I am doing alot of needlepoint to keep me busy and now I can't even do that. Just TV to keep me busy.
Surgery on Friday and then hopefully they will know when my wound will heal so I can book a trip to the parks. That is all I really want anyhow.
See you all soon. Peggie

Peggie,

You sound so strong! It's so good to hear that if you have to have chemo, at least this latest kind is more tolerable! You are quite a fighter, but I don't think that anyone that knows you is surprised by that!

Have faith-you will be celebrating with Mickey before you know it!

Peggie.......

Here's hoping this latest challenge goes well for you. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Ruthie...nice to see you posting!!

Well, in spirit - ok?

What's the name of that movie? White men can't Jump?
My ex used to say it was because he was white that he couldn't
dance... but it is the SPIRIT! Even if you look like an idiot doing it...
or physically cannot move - dance in your heart!
If you're happy - that is what matters!
So maybe I should say skip instead of dance? Or pop wheelies? race?
Or just sing with joy!

You are improving - and that is a wonderful thing!

Keep it up! And someday I hope to make it to the east coast to meet 'cha!

:grouphug:

Peggie, it was nice seeing you last Sunday. Glad to her there is only one more left then you can begin to heal so you can go visit the mouse.
