Hi all,
I am doing much better with the new chemo than I did with the first kind. The only problem with this one is that it causes numbness of the fingers and toes. I can take the toe numbness but it is so hard to type with finger numbness. So if I make mistakes be kind.
I had chemo today and the two bags of steroids that help prevent allergic reactions have kept me up all night. But my house is nice and clean.
Only ONE more Chemo to go, on Feb 17th. You will hear roars and cheers that day louder than anything they can produce at the superbowl.
I have surgery scheduled for Feb 11th to try and remove all the dead tissue in the surgical site. I have had a large 4 1/2 cm deep wound since September that just won't heal while I am on chemo. The chemo is killing all my healthy tissue as it is designed to go after the fast growing cells of which cancer is the fastest growing. They haven't learned yet how to differentiate fast growing cancer cells from fast growing hair and skin cells so I have to pay the price.
I see the radiation oncologist on the 16th and she will determine if I am a candidate for radiation. My oncologist told me to be prepared for a rejection at this time. I might have to wait till the summer for radiation because they don't like to radiate near open wounds. Something about the radiation doing damage to the skin and the tissue won't close. So treatment might last longer than I though. But I will be covered on Long Term disability by April so funds wil be less tight.
Looks like the planned and long desired cruise is off for this year. I am all set to go but I wanted to take my entire family with me. Now that I am going to be a grandmother things have changed. My pregnant daughter in law won't be able to go with us so I am calling off the cruise. I will take them all next year. I wouldn't have as great a time if my son and DIL weren't there to celebrate my heath with the rest of us.
So mark your calendars and set up the prayer chains for Feb 11 and the 16th. I need all I can get. Peggie
