Yes, hospice is coming each day. I wish my aunt would have someone come out to help. It'd be short-term and I know they'd all feel more at ease. Tonight he's refusing to take pain medication. He says it tastes too bad, but he's writhing in pain. So at midnight they called a nurse to come out. They are supposed to report back after the nurse leaves, so I'm waiting up.
I think my mom is going to drive up there tomorrow and stay with her best friend. That way she can take a turn and help out, but still get away from the stress a little.
I wish I could go with her, but the kids start to school on Wednesday. I can't take them out of school except for the funeral and I don't want to be gone when they start back. My DH is an angel, but he hasn't had much practice at getting them up and ready in the mornings. Besides he's supposed to be at work in the city an hour before DD goes to school. It's just not a workable option.
He's getting weaker each day. He's off of the oxygen, the IV, the catheter (however you spell it), etc. He's not drinking or eating, but they said that's okay. His body is shutting down and it knows it doesn't want nourishment or more fluids. He is swelling. It's just not a pretty picture.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. They are keeping us afloat. I just hope it's over soon for his sake.
