I'm out spraying for bugs today and walking by my daylily patch. I planted 10 orange daylilies there last year. (That was my first spring with this yard. Before I planted, there was just a barren area of dirt left by the previous owner.) This year, the orange daylilies all came up & bloomed beautifully.
The plants are still there, but the blooms have been long gone. I'm walking by and look in surprise at my patch. I see a purple lily. Where did that come from? It's different from the lilies around it in color and shape. I'm wondering if the previous owners had left something there afterall. I figured it's kinda late in the season, but it's blooming NOW with more buds on the stalk. That maybe due to the deluge of rain we've gotten recently. It certainly inspired new growth in a dahlia that had already died. I guess you never know.
At any rate, I had a beautiful surprise in my garden today.....
