I missed 22 on the Lit part and 120 on the Q&A
Since I didn't
pass the Q&A they didn't grade the Jury Charge part. I missed more than double the amount I'm allowed to miss on the Q&A
Now I have to go back to Austin in July and try again. In all the
time that I've been in school I never once considered what I would do if I failed the test. I KNEW I would pass it the first time.
The State of Texas had other plans for me though. They gave the
hardest test they could find. Rumor has it that it's all because of
the mask writers (Mask writers use voice recognition software in
combination with a "mask" with a microphone in it. So they don't
actually have to write anything, they just repeat what is being said into the mask. So obviously, since they don't really have to have speed, the test is going to be easier for them.) On the January test one of the mask writers wrote on their comment card, "The test was way too easy. You need to make it harder." See, this is why I think the mask writers should have a seperate test. I mean, they get different certifications (their certificates will say "Certified Mask Reporter") so they should have a different test.
Okay, my vent is over. I'm just really upset that I failed. I
figured I didn't pass when they posted the statistics earlier this
week so I tried to prepare myself for it. Still though, there was
this little part of me that still wanted to hold on to some hope. It hurts really bad
