My soon to be teenager still won't order from adult menu

My husband orders stuff off the kids menu and they charge him adult prices. He likes plain stuff and I dont. It creates issues when I want to go some place cool. The only plain stuff is on the kids menu. He's only been told once since we started going to Disney 10 years ago. If you pay like and adult, they give you an adult portion of the kids food. At least where we ate. Then they took pity on me. :3dglasses

This is exactly what I wanna do. I'm a picky eater and basically live off nuggets, burgers and chips. My Mum and I are on the DDP and have a bunch of ADRs, but the kids meals look way better. If I do get an Adults Meal can I substitute sides at all restaurants as I don't eat Vegies and only have chips with meals. If not I'm getting a kids meal. Can I order an adult meal and get it kid sized? My Mum doesn't eat that much and won't wanna waste food.

I don't think you can do any substitutions if you are on the dining plan. My son tried to get the grilled cheese pretzel at Typhoon Lagoon when we were on the DDP a few years back and they wouldn't let him. he was about 12 at the time and the pretzel was on the kid's menu.

Cucumber melon salad, artichoke hearts, avocado mayonnaise, bruschetta are tame boring foods that any kid should eat? Seriously? Please do not be offended, but do you have kids? My 15 yo will eat these things, but he did go through a very long phase of pizza, hot dogs and chicken nuggets. At home, he often went to bed hungry because he refused to eat what I served and I refused to make him another meal. Kids can be finnicky.

To the OP, the servers at WDW are great. They will make sure your DS is happy and will accommodate his tastes, so don't worry a bit!
Just ask for any offending item to be removed. No wonder kids today are fat and unhealthy. Veggies, salad and lean meats are kid foods if they are introduced to them. "Funny" adult sauces can be placed on the side. There is nothing weird about a turkey sandwich or pot roast!:scared1:

Not all finicky kids are fat and unhealthy.

My 12 year old is a tall, lean, muscular ice hockey player who also excells at basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball and inline hockey. A limited palate in no way suggests an unhealthy diet or overweight child.

Please tell me how a diet of pizza, burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, french fries and mac & cheese can be considered healthy? It is all greasy, processed, fat laden and lacking in fruits and veggies. On what planet does that constitute healthy? You can be thin and unhealthy. Weight is not the only factor in health.

Not sure why you draw the conclusion that selective eaters only eat "pizza, burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, french fries and mac & cheese". :confused3

That may be all they will eat at Disney World, but speaking for my own son, I can tell you there are several very healthy items he loves that aren't on your list above. Unfortunately, they also won't be on the lunch menu at any of the Disney restaurants.

OP, getting back on topic, I say don't worry.....your kids will be fine! :thumbsup2

For those that want to criticize others for their children's lack of adventure when it comes to mealtimes......well, I'm going to be the bigger person and just let that one go! :goodvibes

My 18 yr old still orders off the kids menu!! They are very accomodating and helpful with helping you find something. And she eats absolutely no beef or pork and we've never had any problems finding something for her.
