I'm getting so tired of this.

Nothing major and I know I have nothing to really complain about, so I'm not really complaining. :) Let's just calling it mild complaining. ;) Last month he had a really yucky stomach virus and I'm still finding splatterings in my bathroom...really. A couple weeks ago he had strep throat. It took Jake a few day to get sick enough to go to the dr and get the diagnosis since it started out with very vague symptoms--low grade fever, cough, sore throat, but not real sore. This time his symptoms are about the same--his throat isn't too sore, but his fever is a little higher.

I think if a runny nose hadn't set in tomorrow I won't wait and will go ahead and bring him to the dr and get the strep test. Ugh, here we go again.

Oh, one other thing, he has a little sore on his chest. Probably nothing, but it could be chicken pox. He did have the shot. Does a child get a cough with the pox? He's the only one of my kids to get the vaccine, so I'm not sure how sick a child would get if they get the pox with the vaccine.

Oh, T&B, I'm sorry to hear your little guy is sick again. This reminds me so much of when ds10 was three--in six months he was hospitalized with bacterial meningitis (then two days after he was discharged, he had to be re-admitted because he caught rotavirus in the hospital), had pneumonia, glumerulonephritis (a strep infection of the kidneys), and had an ambulance ride at 2am with him on oxygen due to an attack of bronchiolitis--it was insane. Honestly, every time we turned around we were at the Dr., hospital or ER. What a year 1999 was. :crazy2:

I don't know if you can get a cough with chicken pox, but ds has gotten a rash on his stomach and chest with strep before.

I hope he feels better soon, and that a trip to the Dr. isn't necessary. I"ll be keeping him in my good thoughts.

Your poor son for being so sick! At least Jake's illnesses haven't been too serious. His strep throat a couple weeks ago was only his second sick dr visit, his first being a sinus infection when he was 5yo. For a 4th child I can't believe he went all those years without getting sick enough to go to the dr. Mind you, I'm not the type to run to the dr for every little thing, but I certainly would have brought him if he needed to go.

I read the symptoms of the pox and cough can be one of them.

I just took his temp and he has 102.5, poor guy. He wants some ramen and says his throat doesn't hurt much, so hopefully he is just getting a cold and doesn't have strep.

Jake ended up with a very runny nose, so that does not go along with strep throat, so that is good news. He had a very weird symptom during the night, though. He shares a room with his 12yo brother and Jake came into our room saying his brother was yelling at him and then said that he was just yelling. I thought that Zachary was just having a bad dream and was yelling in his sleep, so I tucked Jake back into bed, but then it happened again. When I was putting Jake back into bed he said, "Don't you hear that, Mom? Zach is yelling.". There wasn't any yelling. Poor Jake was hearing things. Never had that happen before and it was kind of scary. I made him a bed on my floor and he slept, albeit restless. At least he didn't say I was yelling.

Hopefully I'll see improvement today. It seems that the fever should break since the runny nose has started, at least that's what usually happens. If not, maybe I should have him swabbed for flu.
