DS #1 has been going through the recruitment process this week for the US ARMY. We met with the recruiters on Wed. for 2 hours and they picked him up today at 3pm to have testing and physicals tomorrow. He called to say he did very well on his first tests and was about to eat dinner, watch the Super Bowl and go to bed. Wake up call is 4am. :earseek:

I am alternating between profound sadness and being very proud and impressed by him. I have a feeling these feelings are going to be my normal for a few years to come.

He is very determined to do this and has always been interested in military history. He wants to be either a cavalry scout or infantryman. He is also wanting to be stationed in Germany. Hopefully this will happen but I am afraid it may be by way of Iraq. He is okay with whatever comes, he says, although he is not convinced we should go to war at this time, just as his parents are. He does not enter until after graduation in June, maybe later in the summer they tell us now.

I am finding a new respect and appreciation for all of you military families. Thank you so much for all your sacrifices. Wish him some pixie dust for us.

Thanks,

Mike's mom

A big {{hug}} for you mom. I have lots of respect for you and all the military families also, along with those who are members of your families and in the military. Best wishes and prayers for his safety.

{{{{{HUGS}}}} to you, RNMom! You should be very proud of your son.:D

RNMOM, you hit the nail right on the head when you said you alternate between profound sadness and extreme pride. :) You expressed what all military families feel. My DH was an active duty naval officer for 13 years and has been a reservist for 7, so I understand.

It sounds like your son has a clear vision and a great career ahead of him. Blessings to you and your family. :)

{{{HUGS}}} RNMom... You have every right to be proud of your son... I appreciate his courage and sacrifice!! Give him an extra hug from us when you see him again... Blessings to you and your family!!

{{{{HUGS}}}} and prayers.

You should be very proud of your son. I have so much respect for the military families out there. I can see what they go through due to some of my family who is in the military. I do appreciate all those who are serving for all they do and I wish them well. {{hugs}} to you RNMOM
