My solution to stop people from pool hopping

Why doesn't WDW list the name of where you are staying on your Resort ID card? To me this sounds a lot easier then these wrist bands some people get. Anyway what do you all think, or could you think of a better idea?

Your resort ID does show your resort, but just to the CMs not the guest.

There are numbers on the resort ID which shows what resort you are staying at...

The Cast Members who stop people from pool hopping, do they have a list of what numbers on Resort ID cards go with what Resorts?

They could fence in the resort pools like some of the hotels in Vegas and have a CM hand out the pool towels.
First you would need a key card to get in then every member of your party would show their own key card and each of them would receive one towel. That might also stop guests from putting towels on chairs in the morning and not returning till later in day if then.

I think that is an extreme measure and that fencing in all the pools is not only costly but will detract from the looks of the grounds.

If guests would just swim at their home resorts (with the exception of DVC members swimming in the pools they are allowed to) this would NOT be an issue.

I read this advice on another thread:

"Life would be easier, nicer, less stressfull, and a heck of a lot cleaner if all people would respect others rights and the enviroment around them. Following the rules in place is the first step toward that goal. It's that simple, it really is!"

This is the way I have tried to live my life and I personally think it is very good advice.

Just my 2 cents

Yes they do.

I think they should make each pool a different color--GF blue water,POP orange water-WL green water.......Then they make you take a mandatory dip in your hotels pool so your skin will be dyed to it's color then if you go to another pool they will know immediately and can bar you from entering! :teeth:

Personally, I think any guest caught pool hopping should be sent to their room for the rest of the night, and no TV!

I like it, I truly do!!! Can't you just see it now??? All those rainbow hued folks wandering around?
I wouldn't mind fencing, but it sure would be a lot easier if you had to show your room key for entrance or they made routine 'sweeps' of the pool areas. I guess you wouldn't need it at the values or the moderates. But, man, some of those deluxe pools get a lot of non-resort use. Or they could do wristbands at the Polynesian, GF, WL, AKL, and BW...same as at BC/YC. The only issue is that the lifeguards, at least a lot of 'em, don't do anything about those in SAB without the bands. They would have to enforce it.

This is very true about SAB. As I posted in another thread I have stayed at YC/BCV several times and have never had a wristband while in SAB and nobody has ever said a thing. Last summer 18 of us stayed at BCV and again no wristbands and nothing said. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know you needed a wristband until reading a previous post on these forums. I can imagine what others must have thought  :confused3

How do you know this? I'm not saying that to be argumentative - but unless someone is loudly proclaiming that they're not staying at that resort - how would you know if someone is pool hopping or not?

And is pool hopping really that big a problem? I've never stayed at a deluxe - but have stayed at all the moderates. They have plenty of folks at them - but considering the size of the resorts I've never thought "these folks are pool hoppers!"

Including the guests who are permitted by Disney to pool hop? ;)

Almost every single day we were at the Volcano Pool at the Polynesian we overheard people saying things like 'THis is a great pool. We'll have to save up and stay here someday.' Or 'It's a nice pool but I can't see spending such a lot to stay here just for the pool...our hotel is just as nice.' Or 'Where can we change before we head back over to the MK? I love swimming here but it's a pain to have to find someplace to change.'

And again at Luna Park pool area on several occasions also. I'm sure there are people that just don't know, but I would think they can read the signs. I can't tell you how many times we arrived at the pool at the Polynesian and found no place to sit, and then proceeded to overhear some of that above mentioned stuff.
However, I do have to say that I did find a pool hopper at the pool area on 'Ole Man Island at POR several years ago. A woman in the group of about 8 or so was overheard to be actually bragging about how you don't have to even stay at WDW in order to use the pools...after all, nobody checks IDs. Well, evidently someone (not me!!) took offense to this and reported the group to the lifeguard, who then promptly asked them for their resort IDs. Of course they had none, so were told to leave.

So...is it a huge problem, worthy of much debate and sleeplessness?? No, I guess not. But it does happen...more than some would think. I am not the pool police. But you would think that people would not advertise the fact that they are non-resort guests.

I've stayed at the Beach Club many times and remember one stay, they didn't give us wrist bands all week and then Saturday morning, they asked to see our KTTW cards and put wrist bands on all of us. I think it depends on how crowded they think the pool will be. If it's not real crowded, they probably don't mind too much if some non-Beach/Yacht Club people are there. If they think there will be lots of people, they use the wrist bands to try to limit it to resort guests. We were there June 1 to 4 this month and got wrist bands every time we used the pool. We also didn't see anyone not wearing a wrist band, but I will admit that I was actually just having fun and not looking for wrist bands. :goodvibes

Obviously, I was just kidding. I've never pool hopped. In fact, I've never once, in all my stays at various WDW resorts, have never even used the pool. I've always said, I can swim at home, when I am on vacation, if I get too hot, I'll go ride Splash Mountain.

I don't want to stir up a hornets nest here, but I think some people over react to this issue. I know, it's fundamentally wrong. People should follow rules, etc, etc, but I don't think Disney does a very good job advertising this restriction. In all my years, I never knew this was against policy until I started coming on these borads. It's easy, when you are in a place like WDW where you have the freedom to essentially "go anywhere and do anything" to think that it would be no problem to hop over to another resort and use their pool, especially if you are all ready staying on Disney grounds.

Again, I don't mean to stir up the flames here, and I know people will argue against this all day, but I sometimes can't help but to feel that this pool hopping issue really comes down to a class division issue. Maybe I just don't get it. Anyway, let me put on my asbestos underpants now.

I was riding a bus from BCV to DD one night and the only other people on the bus were a couple with a toddler in a stroller, who were wearing wet bathing suits with tank tops over them. They went on and on about does Disney think they aren't good enough to swim in the fancy pool and only rich people get to swim in it, etc. etc... The funny thing was they seemed perplexed as to why they got questioned and thrown out of SAB, but attached to their stroller were 3 ASSp mugs.

Right on to you!!!!!!! I have read a previous post from the OP and it was similar to this. I wonder to myself if this person is trying out for Disney Security. Honestly who cares??? Anyone is welcome to the AS Sports to pool hop- just don't drink all of the strawberry daiquiris at the pool bar.
