I've had our dryer for just about 13 years now. It wasn't an expensive dryer to begin with, so we've squeezed every penny out of that thing. DH has been after me to buy a new one but I was being a tightwad and kept putting it off because the one we have was still chugging along. Yesterday I turned it on and smelled something burning right away, so I turned it off. Then when I went through the clean laundry this morning I noticed that a pair of my pants had scorch marks on them. I think they got burned in the dryer.:scared1: It could have started a fire. So today I had to go price new dryers.:headache:
The good news is that DH will have a reason to laugh at me the next time he calls.

Well congrats on getting a new one, and congrats on NOT burning down your home! Tough time of year to get a new appliance, but having your house burn down would have been far worse.

My 25 year old dryer caught fire one night at 2am, luckily I was awake cuz my DF was away on business and I could not sleep. It was a bug ruckus, the fire dept came and all the neighbors came out.:headache:

I've had my dryer for 20 years and it was my parents before that. I keep praying it lasts a while longer cause I know they don't make them to last anymore.

Now I'm getting nervous about potential fires. We did have it serviced a couple years ago-new belts and whatever else they do. I always pull the lint out too.

THat's awful. I hope the damage wasn't too bad. I'm not taking any chances, it's time for a new dryer. LOL I guess I know what Santa's bringing me this year.
