I'll have my laptop, and my friends are planning to bring theirs, as well. If I take a wireless router with me, and hook it up to their ethernet cable, can we both logon wirelessly at the same time, or will we have IP conflicts? Or, maybe their system will pick it up and charge us the rip-off $9.95 a day for internet? Anybody know for sure if this will work or not?

I've had 4 laptops and 2 iPhones on concurrently at the villas with no problems (NAT'ed, of course).

Good golly, you running a data center out of your DVC villa? :rotfl: That's a lot of hardware for vacation time. Though I know the feeling, on my next vacation I'll have a good bit of work to do too.

We started keeping a wireless router in our OL a few trips ago. Works out great. Not only can multiple users be online at once but many 2BR's only have a hot connection in the master br which can be problematic.

I think if you are a DVC member you won't be charged the internet service, but you are a cash guest you will be.

Your wireless router uses the one IP address (if it's restricted to one) and your router uses network address translation (NAT) and has its own DHCP address server built in to give you and your neighbors your wireless addresses. (you are going to offer service to me when I am your neighbor right? :woohoo: )

This is exactly what I will do at BWV in 10 days. If anyone is going, I've requested quiet pool so look for SSID Parrotbill !

That's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure their system couldn't read how many computers were connected and try to charge us for "more than one at a time."
