I just returned from my trip on sat and wanted to throw my 2 cents in on the resturants we ate at. We ate all CS for lunch and all TS for dinner. (A full trip report will be comming by the end of the week over on that board, I just have to get my pics in order.)
Day 1:
CS: Seasons (Epcot) I thought this was above avg for a CS resturant. I got the chicken and it was awsome (the best chicken I had all week and you will see I had a lot). All 5 of us had different meals and were all pleased. I now see why it is so busy around lunch time.
TS: Coral Reef (Epcot) This is the third time I have eaten here and I was very dissapointed because the first two were great. My parents both had the seafood linguini and said that it was avg at best (I tried it and agree). My wife had the chicken and it was awful. It was dry and lacking some flavor. I got the crab legs and I was the most satisified with my meal. I thought the portion size was not that bad and it was nice to have them already halfed so I did not have to crack them open but they were cold. And when I say cold, I mean it was like they were taken out of the refridgerator cold. This was the first time i have had a bad experience at CR and it will be my last because I wont be dining there again.
Day 2:
CS: Cosmic Ray's (MK) Decent for what you would expect it to be. I like this place for the chicken and ribs meal. It gives you the best portion for your price anywhere at WDW property (other than a buffet). The chicken was good and the ribs were prepared well, but had a lot of fat on them. My wife liked the chicken as well. Both parents got burgers and were pleased with the fixins bar, this is something that Disney does very well.
TS: Crystal Palace (MK) Good buffet. I still like the salmon as one of the best on WDW property. (Although Chef Mickey's is catching it in my book. More on that later). The only complaint I had was with the peal and eat shrimp as they were undersized and overcooked. THe selection of this buffet I thought was good and for me it was just enough familiar things with enough of an adventurous flare. The cinnamon rice was awsome.
Day 3:
CS: Starring Rolls (DHS) I love the sandwiches here. They are so full of meat and are quite filling. My mother got the flatbread veggie and the veggies were well marinated and not overpowering.
TS: 50's Cafe (DHS) Our server was great and I was quite pleased with the food. As everyone said on the boards the pot roast was great. I also liked the fried chicken that others had. Sue was our server's name and she was the best I have ever had here. She played the part perfectly. There was also another waiter in our area that did an excelent job of playing off of her and they were very entertaining.
Day 4:
CS: Flame Tree BBQ (AK) The chicken was avg as well as the pork BBQ but this is the best option for AK. There is a real lack of choices here but Flame Tree is at least ok. I love the seating here and like overlooking the water, but thought the food was not as good as I remembered it.
TS: Spoodles (Boardwalk) The food here is great I love the muscles app here and paid for that oop (more on that later). The meal was great. We all had the shrimp linguini and it was very filling and satisifying. The balsamic sauce on the deserts kinda freaked me out a bit but was very good. Intense but good. The only complaint I had here was the service. I had told our waiter that I planned to pay cash for those muscles, and put the cash into the fold when he took my DDP card. He then brought no change and a bill for the $13. I figured he assumed the first payment to be the tip so I figured I would just pay the bill with the cash again and left. Upon checking out I saw that he had charged the meal to our room key and pocketed the cash both times. I did file a formal complaint with Disney but beware of Charley at Spoodles.
Day 5:
CS: World Showcase We each got a meal from different countries. Sampler at Mexico, Japan (along with some sushi), Orange Chicken in China and some Fish and Chips. All were good and allowed us all to get a small taste of what WS had to offer.
TS: Resturant Marrachesh(sp) (World Showcase) This was just an avg meal for us. We all were satisified with the food but nothing really stood out. The best was the beef kabob, but as I mentioned nothing was crazy good.
Day 6:
CS: Pecos Bills Same as Cosmic Ray's for us. Burgers were decent but the fixins bar is what makes it great.
TS: Chef Mickey's I see why this is so hard to get a reservation at. The food was great. The salmon was very good and made a run at being my fav. I also loved the carved meats. Both had a great rub on them and were perfectly prepared. The characters comming over to our table was the icing on the cake. Overall a great meal and plan to eat there next trip.
Overall I had a great dining experience with very few bumps in the road. Thanks for all of the tips that helped to make it so good.
