Ok...I flew in and out of ORD(chicago-ohare)/ALB with my son's liguid and spray meds this weekend with only carryon luggage.

One of his meds is in a 12 oz bottle(clearly above the allowed amount) and his spray had no prescription(because it was on the box I threw away) .

First of all, medications are exempt from the 3 oz rule. I still put them in their own seperate plastic bag (including his non liquid/gel meds) and handed them to a TSA person and I asked that they not be x-rayed(you are allowed to ask this of medications). Everyone said fine-I think in ALB(NY) they swabbed the larger bottle...not problem, no looks, no questions. I also had a letter-but it was not needed-and would not get one again.

Meds that are missing lables(but smaller than the 3 oz limitation I would not worry about). Meds without a lable larger than 3 oz that are liquid or gels...I would call the pharmacy and ask for a replacement lable or bottle.

Your meds do not count as your 1 bag of personal tolitries-so you could bring another baggie. Also remember that every member(including children) can bring their own baggie...so do not stress. Just have it done before you get to the airport, and put it in a convient place to get them in and out for screening.

Good Luck

Just flew back from Reagan in DC to Providence. I carried the quart sized ziplock with my makeup, lotion, etc, and a small lunch size cooler bag with my insulin and byetta. Both in Providence and Reagan, they just identified the bag as "medical" and x-rayed it. I pack it with a small gel pack of blue ice, and no one seemed bothered by that.

Hope that encourages anyone worried about meds.
