Toay, DM an I went to see how my rabbit was doing and to clean and feed her if need be. I am in my school's FFA program and I have a female rabbit that stays at the agricultural barn. We go out there a couple days a week to check on her and tend to her. When I first got her I learned that she was pregnant. Well, two weeks ago DM and I were going out of town to visit family for the holidays.
Before we left I told my agriculture teacher that I would be gone for 2 weeks and what should I do about my rabbit? She said that she already had to take care of some animals so she wouldn't mind taking care of my own. When I went out there today I found my rabbit without any water or food and her cage was filthy. I took the top half of her cage off and what I saw immediately brought me to tears. I found one of her babies, dead, in the refuse. She had miscarried.
I felt horrible. I cleaned her cage and then I gave her some food and water. She immediately took to the food as if she hadn't eaten in weeks. She seemed to be ok though. DM and I went home and I called my ag. teacher. She told me that she had gone out there the day before yesterday and she hadn't had her babies yet. She also told me that she had been feeding her and watering her.
Right now all I am hoping for is that she makes it through the next week. I care very much for her and I am scared.
