Part 1:
I usually hang out on the wedding board since I just got married at WDW 2 months ago. This is my first TR on the TR board!!

DH and I are AP holders and we usually hit WDW at least twice a month since we only live a couple of hours away. This trip was probably our last for the summer though since we try to avoid the heat and the crowds.

Let me begin on Sunday… I prepared a big dinner for Father’s Day and for my birthday so we had my parents and my brother over. At some point one of my darling dog children, Chance, ended up with a gash in his side. I don’t know what he did but he’s a maniac whippet and they have thin skin so it’s not unusual to tear their skin. It didn’t look to bad so I figured we would see what it looked like the next morning…. The morning we are supposed to leave early to go to WDW….
Here’s my little stinker:

For my birthday, my mom gave me this:

Monday morning we are up at 6:30 ready to go. When I look at poor Chance’s wound I realize he probably needs stitches so I take him to the vet at 7:30. We were going to leave at 8 but I can’t just leave my baby! So we stuck around until 9 and the vet decided he needed to be there until 5. I would just have to leave him and let my mom pick him up. We have 2 whippets and a cockatiel who were headed to grandmas anyway!

$300 later we are finally on our way! We arrived around noon and headed straight for the Grand Floridian. I wanted to rent a boat and cruise around the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. DH missed the turn to GF so we went to the Contemporary instead.
We stopped for a photo op on our way to the marina:

It was a very hot day and I was surprised there were not too many people out on the water. We rented a Boston Whaler which I neglected to take a picture of in all my excitement! Here are a few pics we shot from the lake:

We didn’t get married here (married at SBP) but I had to get a picture of this:

I remember going to Discovery Island as a kid so we took a few spins around it. I cannot believe the amount of birds hanging out on this island! I’m a bit of a bird nerd so I was very excited to see just how many varieties were there!
Here’s just a few shots:

I really enjoyed the boat ride!

After we docked I was hungry! I thought the bar at the Contemporary served appetizers but we were too early for that. We went down to the little counter service place inside and I had a bacon cheese and chicken sandwich and DH had a beer. It was quite yummy actually:

After our boat ride we decided to go to the hotel and check in. I travel for my job so I am a Hilton Honors points queen! When we stay over night we typically stay at the Hilton in DTD since I always have the points to do it for free. Free is good!
We arrive at the Hilton and they tell us our room is not ready yet. It's after 3:00 pm at this point! So the guy tells me he has a fabulous upgrade for me and he will see if he can hurry it up. We head over to DTD to kill some time and wait for the room. We get back to the hotel around 4:45 and the room is still not ready! UGH! DH is dying for a nap and I want to get ready for our dinner at Boma! The desk manager goes to the room personally to see what the deal was and comes back to tell us it won't be ready until 9:00 PM! He says it's a huge VIP suite and totally worth waiting for. There was still someone in it though with a late check out. I knew this would not work for DH so I gave up my suite upgrade for a plain 'ole room!
A little while later this arrived:

It was a white cake with strawberry or rasberry filling. Very good but very sweet!
I didn't want to ruin my appetite for Boma so I only had a few bites!

Up next.... dinner!

Congratulations on your wedding! How cool to be married at Disney. I'm going to have to go back and read your wedding report.

I also saw you were engaged on the Peoplemover! How awesome! That is one of my favorite rides at MK. No trip would be complete without a ride on it. It will always be the Peoplemover to me. I know it's called something else now.

Can't wait for more!:goodvibes

I REFUSE to call it by that other name!!! lol

We headed off to AKL a little early so we had time to look around. I really wanted time to go check out the savannah but a storm with lots of lightening was rolling in. By the time we got to AKL the bottom was about to drop out. I hated just walking through the parking lot with all that lightening! I would later find out that our DDE card gives you free valet. Who knew? How did I miss this!

Our first stop inside was at the gift shop. I think that DH and I have secretly had some kind of Disney gift shop magnet implanted in our heads. We can’t seem to pass one by no matter how many times we go by! This is a great shop if you have not checked it out! I have always loved that AK has such unique stuff.
As a side note… my mom and DH’s mom unknowingly bought the same shirt at AK during out wedding!

Anyway, we headed downstairs to check in at Boma! We did Disney’s Honeymoon Registry for our wedding and one of my friends had given us dinner here. We didn’t have time to go during our wedding trip so this was a perfect time. DH is always willing to go anywhere that has all you can eat prime rib!
It was very packed and the check in line was quite long. The waiting area is shared with Jiko so it looks more packed than it really is. After checking in we headed up to the bar. With all the people downstairs waiting I can’t believe how empty the bar is! It’s a very nice bar overlooking the restaurant. DH ordered a drink but I decided to wait. Alcohol fills me up and I needed to save room for that buffet!

I did however order this with dinner:

I was shocked at the cost of this! It’s the YOMD martini and I was betting it was around $10. It was only $7! That’s cheap considering this is Disney and most martini bars are more expensive than that! Plus DDE gives you 20% of alcohol too! The martini was way too sweet for my taste and I have a serious sweet tooth!

We headed for the buffet and DH created the first of what we’ll call the meat lovers platter! This is his second plate:

This man doesn’t eat vegetables! Sure there are some potatoes on that plate but that really doesn’t count!

I loved the chicken! It was sooo good! I tried the potato bacon soup as well as a little bit of almost everything. My real goal though was to get to what we’ll call the dessert lovers platter:

I know everyone raves about the zebra domes and they were great but not my favorite. The apple cobbler here was amazing! I LOVE apple cobbler so this was my fav! I also really like sweet plantains and they roll theirs in nuts… YUM! One of my other top pics was a pastry that reminded me of baklava but the dough was lighter and there were more nuts. It was super yummy! The chocolate mousse was awesome too!

We tried to get some other pics at AKL but it was much too dark. After dinner the storm had passed so we went and walked around the pool area. The overlooks here are very neat and even though it was dark you could still see the flamingos and one lone spoonbill.

As we made our way around the corner we saw the sign for night vision so we headed that way! There wasn’t much of a crowd so we didn’t have to wait long to look through the night vision monocular. My dad has one of these so I’m used to using it. It was pretty cool to see the animals out at night.
After dinner we headed back to the Hilton where we had a great view of the Illuminations fireworks and MGM.

Tomorrow is my birthday!!

Great report so far! I'm getting hungry....

We just love Boma!!! Congrats on your wedding! Love the pics..got some great shots.

We have never eaten at Boma before. All you can eat prime rib?! Wow! My dad loves prime rib and he is going with us this summer. Now, I'm wondering if I should try and get an ADR there. I think he would like it!

Can't wait for more! I read your wedding trip report and it was awesome! Can't wait to read more about your birthday!

You will love it!! It's now one of my favs! I can't wait to try Jiko but I don't know if I would be able to get DH past the entrance to Boma... he'd probably cry out for prime rib... lol!

Thanks for reading! We had a fantastic wedding and I get all sappy just thinking about it! I keep telling DH that I miss out DFTW. He says I can plan a vow renewal in 3 years! I was so sad when I was done with my wedding TR! I loved putting it together!

Will be waiting for more. One of my goals in life is to be married at Disney and I am getting to where I may just have to do it by myself.:upsidedow
