When I was pregnant with my youngest DD (now 5), our large lab (she's square, not rectangle in shape, if you get my drift) ate an ENTIRE BOX of Lady Godiva chocolates- chocolate, cardboard, plastic wrap and all. I had received the box as a gift, but had such severe morning sickness I couldn't even eat chocolate (yes- that bad).......but the worst part was that she showed NO signs of ill health AT ALL.....the remains of the cardboard and chocolate appeared- but no throwing up, no poop messes, no nothing. We were terribly worried (well, I admit I occilated between very worried and screaming at her "die, die"). She was just fine- but still eats anything. I am STILL mad at her about the loss of the chocolate......
It is amazing what pets can consume and survive! As the mother of 4 kids, 1 horse, 2 large dogs, 6 cats, 4 guinea pigs and a hamster (at least that's the current count, I think), I know how much worry our young charges can cause us. My family and I will keep your pup in our prayers. Some days I don't know who causes me more gray hairs- the husband, the kids or the pets!
