Difficulty buying dining plan with gift cards?

On 12/29/25, we called MS to buy the dining plan for our upcoming reservation. We provided the 3 DGC with over $2700 on them to pay in full. On the Disney Gift Card site it showed all money being sent to WDW and we saw the dining plan on our reservation.

For some reason, the advisor said they had to cancel the dining plan on our reservation and refund the gift cards and we would try again once refunded.
The dining plan disappeared from our reservation but we have yet to receive the funds back to our gift cards. They said it could be 2 days for the funds to show but we're on the fourth day and still no money.

I've been on hold for over an hour and have been disconnected by Disney twice now, once after being called back by the advisor saying their system rebooted.

Anyone had any issue like this?

Well, I called back yesterday evening and was told that it could be up to 7-10 business daysbefore I may see my money to try again at adding the dining plan.

They said that even though they charged the gift cards for the right amount, the system was still saying an amount was due so the supervisor suggested cancelling the dining plan and refund the cards.

The advisor I spoke with last night said that I could call DisneyGiftCard number and ask if they see the money pending refund. I called and they said to email guest.service@disneygiftcard.com.

Very unimpressed with both member service folks I talked with and the whole experience so far. Usually refunds to gift cards are instant. This is just bizarre.

yea... Disney has a (cheap) system, that once it gets corrupted, it is in a spiral dive.
The system/programs needs to TOTALLY refresh. Disney has a record of your issue which is good.
If your stay is late January or later, you should be fine.
You are at the mercy of the system now. Hurry up and wait.

OMG, I hope it all works out. Please realize that sharing your experience has helped at least one person. I got some Disney gift cards for Christmas and was planning to use them to add the dining plan to my upcoming solo trip. Now I'll use them at WDW.
