Our ten-month-old basset, Matilda, has collapsed twice in the past month or so. After a few days at Tufts, the sad news is that she has Small Motor Neuron Disease. It isn't Myasthenia Gravis or a couple of other things I can's spell. She's able to walk, but not well. Her legs are weak, but she's not in pain. She acts like a much older dog, though it's obvious she'd love to be able to play with our other basset and chase the cat. Oh, how I wish she could
. We are to watch her carefully, particularly her breathing, as the vets are sure her respiratory system will be affected. She eats well, she pees and poops normally, she can still smile and wag her tail. All of this tells me she's happy enough to keep going for awhile. I intend to give her as much time as I can, but I will not prolong her suffering. It's an impossible place to be. If love or buckets of tears could save her, my little Tilly would live forever......

So very sorry.......Faith
your way. It sounds like she is full of fun and hopefully that will last for a good while longer.
