My (possible) Split Stay..what do you think?

I am wondering what you guys think. We currently have reservation for August at Copper Creek 1 bedroom using 189 points for 5 nights. I was thinking of changing this to a split stay and do 2 nights at Kidani and then 3 nts at Copper Creek. We have never stayed at Animal Kingdom so I thought I would give that a try for our first 2 nights. We often do split stays so I don't mind the move that much.
Do you think I should switch to a split stay?
Also, we check in on a saturday. I was thinking of cheking in on sunday to save the points but put them towards a savanna view room. Is a savannah view worth the difference in points?

If you don't mind doing split stays I say go for it. It's fun trying all the different resorts.

As far as savannah view, I prefer it. You don't say whether you have kids but when we've stayed there the tv doesn't even get turned on because the kids go right to the balcony to watch the animals.

First thing I thought was "surely there cannot be enough availability for the change". But wow I was wrong - situation normal . Anyway, have only stayed Jambo savannah view. I will say we loved it. We are always out on the balcony in the morning with coffee, and then probably again in the afternoon too wherever we stay - BLT balcony was the only exception but we had theme park view so we sat in the living room. At Kidani I would go for savannah if view if that is the draw. I understand there are some exceptions where a standard gets you a bit of a savannah view, but I'm not going to book standard and go in hoping. At Jambo the standard views have a little higher probability of being "lesser" savannah views as I understand it. Have a great time. I'm looking forward to CCV.

I say go for it but if you can get Jambo, I recommend that for a first visit. The property itself is a little more impressive, it has more dining choices and the pool is much larger. On the plus side Kidani villas are larger and have better Savannah views (all Jambo villas are on the 5th floor)

Savannah view is worth it IMO, nothing like a cup of coffee and some zebras. My suggestion is to plan your park days around your resorts. We are huge fans of split stays, and switching resorts in the morning is often easier than struggling with transportation at the end of a long park day.

My kids are really no longer kids...22,21, and 19. They still want to go to Disney every year and we usually stay in the Boardwalk area..either BWV or BCV or SSR, so this will definitely be a change of pace. I thought maybe we should try something different...but hope they(we) don't miss our Boardwalk area. So funny because majority of my points are at Boardwalk and for years we never stayed there. Usually OKW to conserve points and a few other reasons...space and who was traveling with us at the time.

We are all animal lovers so I think they will enjoy AKL.

Jambo was not available for a 1BR so I booked Kidani Savannah view for 2 nights. I also booked an ADR at Sanaa to get the full experience and yes cruisin5, I do the same...I plan our stays around the resorts. We will also have a car so the buses to and from akl are not a concern as I will drive to the parks. I am really looking forward to it. I am currently in the obsesseion stage right now...making adr's , picking magic bands, etc.

The only reason why I wouldn't do a split stay this stay is because Animal Kingdom Villas are almost always available at seven months, especially the savannah views, but the availability of CCV at seven months could be very limited in the future. I would enjoy my stay at CCV this trip while you can, and do AKV another trip.

Yes, Bell services will transfer your luggage and groceries for you to your next resort.

But...if you have my family's luck, you will get your cup of coffee with a view of the Ankole-Watusi cattle and/or maybe an ostrich. Not *quite* the same as zebras. And if you see the ankole cow with the wonky head tilt, they are aware of the issue and say it's not really a problem.

Just be sure it's during daylight hours. Otherwise you get a lovely reflected view of you or other diners.

Yep. Though you cannot expect to have access to your items until after *official* checkin time for the resort.

We have done split stays before and what I usually do is pack a day bag of things we will want to access like bathing suits or change of clothes. Bell services will take suitcases as well as food including perishables and transfer to the next resort for you. If I have had a car I have transferred my own luggage and then just check perishables with bell services..

Good thing is I planned AK for when we are at AKV and MK and Epcot for when we are at CCV. So I'm thinking the time we save on transportation will make up for the inconvenience of packing and moving. And I'm getting excited about getting to enjoy two different resorts.

We tend to like to RELAX! I know you are staying at Kidani, but we love hanging out in the lobby of Jambo. There is a fire over to the side that is relaxing to sit around, and they build a fire out back at night. You can look at the animals at night with night-vision goggles. There is a tour (I believe it's every day at 3:45) that involves learning about the two Jambo restaurants and sampling some of their specialties (soups, bread service, and Zebra Dome). If you are staying savanna view, enjoy your balcony! Request a lower floor to have a better viewpoint of the animals. We did savanna view once at Kidani. It was amazing! Now we like to conserve points, so we usually stay in the value or standard rooms. Enjoy your time at AKV. It's an awesome resort.

That's how I feel about CCV!

Kidani has larger rooms with an extra bathroom off of the living room. Which might come in handy with so many adults.
Also that resort is quieter with rooms on floors 2 - 5 (Jambo House rooms are only on 5). The advantage of having rooms on 2 or 3 is that you get better views of the animals.

As to the split stay. I think I would stay with CCV this trip. And next trip stay at AKV for at least 4 nights.
