My positive Boardwalk Inn CL review & my very negative Beach Club CL review

Very well said.

And thanks for the link re. facial hair. I don't know why in the world I remembered that cast member as having had a mustache?
You're welcome, Cotillard. But, as of 2000, trimmed mustaches are permitted so maybe the CM did have one?

CRFan, thanks for the review. I have enjoyed your posts about BWI in the past. I was actually debating between BC, YC and BWI for my trip last year. BWI won out because it was the only one with Standard view rooms available, but I second-guessed myself because of the pool. After visiting BC during my stay, I was very happy with where I was staying. Personally, I just liked the overall feel of the resort. BC always seemed so crowded, full of tons of families, lines for everything, etc. I wasn't CL at BWI, but I can imagine the mad rush for the CL food offerings, because that was just the impression I had of the resort. Glad you had a great trip!!

As painful for me to say I completely agree with this. Our family stayed CL at the BC in July for 9 nights and it truly was terrible.

Examples:

One morning they were out of diet coke and when my husband asked Pete if he could please get him one, Pete said "I was off for the last two days and no one bothered to order it, might have some in this afternoon". Maybe its just me, but it seems like it would have been fairly easy for a cast member to go to the market place and bring some up for the CL guests until their supply came in????
I'm 99.87% positive there are accounting reasons they can't do that.

On the other hand, from some of the (seemingly minor) experiences listed in this thread, I'm 100% positive BC CL needs desperately to replace everyone except Pete and start providing the service the guests expect!

The first time I walked into the lounge I said where is the small table for dirty plates and etc? So the fact they don't have room for that is something I couldn't believe.

Is it possible they were watching the lounge/tables so closely to allow them to quickly clean any tables needing it? Maybe they'd had complaints from guests having to bus their own tables :confused3?

Sounds like they're wrong no matter what they do or whom they try to please

Don't forget I never said for anyone else not to stay Club Level at the Beach Club, because if people enjoy it then go ahead and stay there. Now while my review might seem like a personal attack I wasn't flaming anyone who liked staying there, all I said was what we found wrong with it and that we will never stay there again.

Also my review isn't the first negative one about a specifc resort and it won't be the last. I mean there have been a lot of times when I read negative reviews about the Contemporary because of their theme or conventions they host. I even have read some of those few negative Boardwalk Inn Club Level reviews. However I didn't flame those people for what their experience was, so that shouldn't be happening to me based on my personal opinion.

No one flamed you either, they disagreed, just as you have disagreed with others on their opinions of the Contemporary and BWI.

It truly is ok, for both to happen.

We are not clones and thank god for that.

Psshhhhh.... I didn't even last a night at POFQ :lmao: I was there for 4 hours before moving to Coronado

:worship:

You may have broken the land speed record for resort changing!

I have friends who beat that record! Several years ago, a large group of us from around the country met for a long weekend at WDW. These two sisters lasted a whole TWO hours at GF CL before deciding it wasn't for them and moving over to the absolutely gorgeous AKL CL.

There was no sarcastic tone in my posts--at least none was intended. If you inferred one, that's your problem, LuvtheMouse. It didn't seem like the OP did.
I have to agree with that. To paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen: "I know sarcasm. Sarcasm is a friend of mine ;). JerseyJanice's posts were not sarcastic."

The problem we've always had with the YC/BC is that while you're paying deluxe resort prices, (and goodness knows - they are DELUXE ! ) You still have to be crammed like a sardine into a bus just to get to the MK. (A bus that, depending on the driver, takes turns at about 40mph as everyone standing hangs on for dear life. I swear, some of the drivers do that for their own amusement.).
It's unlikely bus drivers are making 90 degree (or close, or sharper) turns at 40 mph. The bus would roll over. A turn may feel fast, especially for guests not accustomed to public transportation, but turns are made at a safe speed.

If they could build a monorail line all the way to Epcot, they could build one to the YC/BC. But, they're too darned cheap.
Where and what's the return? Easier access to the MK? Stay at an MK-area resort for a couple of days of your trip, or walk through Epcot. But it's not 'just' building an extra line - at, what, $10,000,000 per mile? You also have the issue of where to put the supports, redesigning and increasing the platform outside Epcot, building a platform at YC/BC...

Another odd problem is the YC/BC have to be some of the most strangely designed buildings I've ever seen. Some of the hallways are so long they seem like that scene from "Poltergeist" where they just get longer and longer.
Many seaside (and Catskill) resort hotels were built like that. Lots in Las Vegas, too. Since you know you don't like that design, these are probably the wrong hotels for you.

Best of my knowledge, AKL and BWI are designed the same.

This, plus I've never seen a hotel with so many rooms with bad views. At least half of them look over partially rusted rooftops, and if you hang halfway over the side of the balcony, turn your head to the far left and catch a glimpse of a birdbath, you're charged for a "water view".
I'm relatively certain those 'rusted' roofs aren't even metal. It's atmosphere. You could, and should, check with a supervisor or maintenance CM next time you're there. As for water view, well, the birdbath is an exaggeration and you know it. There aren't any, at least at BC :). But heck, I've paid for a water view at RPH - only to be put on the first floor and not be able to see ANY water due to the dense vegetation outside my window!

Needless to say, they are not amongst our favorite resorts.

That, and they don't serve Sprite zero. ;)
Yes, it's apparent it's not your favorite resort. Just to make sure you have your facts straight, they DO serve SpriteZero. They just don't put it out.

:lmao:

Another land speed resort changing record:thumbsup2

I lasted less than that, about 30 minutes while checking in. :thumbsup2

There are only two resorts at Disney that I have tried very hard to like, AKL and the BWI and Villas.

So I have accepted that it is me, not them, for if you do a search I have never posted a unfavorable review.

Niether appeal to me on many levels, so I figure since many others do, we will all be happy.

HI Sammie!

Why didn't you like AKL? Just curious. We like it there, but it is far from the parks for people. Also, we have never stayed at the BWI. Loved the YC though, mayhbe because it's more subdued than the BC?? I didn't like the WL's rooms! The resort is gorgeous, bu the rooms were sub par...

Well part of that problem is the guests don't have a specifc table for their dirty plates and etc. So basically if the Cast Member see a plate hasn't been used for at least 1 minute they think were done and will come right up and take it away, when we might want to use it again. So if the guests complained about having to walk a few feet and place their dirty plates on another table then I think there is something wrong with that, because at the Contemporary, Boardwalk Inn and Polynesian their Club Level lounges have a specifc table for dirty plates and etc. So the guests aren't forced to leave them on the tables.

Pete at BWI is FANTASTIC. I love that man! I will totally agree with CR FAN that BWI CL Staff is great. (Little too chatty in some cases like I mentioned before but that is just me not preferring that....). I wish I could take SAB and put it in front of BWI! :) I have to ask though - Scott at BWI was the stresse out worker when we were there in 09. Is he still there? Sort of a younger guy....We stayed YC CL in 2010 and 2011 and loved it (especially barbara the older woman..she is wonderful) - Sort of the "pete" of YC CL if that makes sense...:goodvibes

It just an theme thing with me. I can appreicate how spectacular the detail is there, but I like light, bright, airy, open spaces such as Grand Floridian, Yacht and Beach. I want lots of water around me and lots of places to walk. I do prefer Yacht Club over Beach.

I don't care for BW because I always feel like I have stepped into a circus when I stay there.

That is what's so great about going to Disney, lots of choices and wouldn't life be dull if we were all alike.

Yes Scott is still working CL at the BWI and he was mentioned in my review, plus he was also very friendly and we always enjoyed talking with him.

I get that. But I'd rather have my used plate taken away by a CM/staffer than have it sitting on my table, or worse, enter the CL lounge to see a table stacked with dirty dishes. Ugh! And reusing your plates just isn't sanitary. If you've ever eaten at a buffet, they tell you to take a clean plate every time you get more food (rather than risk getting crumbs or partly eaten food from your used plate in the fresh food - which they won't tell you, but that's the reason).

Beach Club concierge is the bomb! We love it. I let them know that my four year old LOVES milk and and one CM disappeared in the back, he came back with a gallon of milk. It was just the little things like that, so sweet, such attention to detail. :goodvibes

Its apparant this poster was being humorous. Why rip hip him apart with boring technicul stuff. Did you not "get it"? Lighten up a little.:confused3

The only bit of humor in that post was the birdbath abmnd I smiled after my response to that. Heck, everybody knows ;) WDW counts puddles as water views! As for the "boring technical" stuff, well, if I thought it were either I wouldn't have bothered knowing or sharing it. Most of the post I quoted wasn't intended to be funny. I simply answered in kind.

I don't consider it a successful day if I haven't learned at least one new thing.

Yes Scott is still working CL at the BWI and he was mentioned in my review, plus he was also very friendly and we always enjoyed talking with him.

He was our 2009 eye roller. He would sit at the little desk in the lounge and everytime the phone would ring he would sigh and roll his eyes. I know he didn't think he was being watched but DD10 at the time got a kick out of how many times he would roll his eyes during our meal. The one time he tossed a pencil in the air when the phone rang and DD about fell out of her chair. I can't recall ever talking with him but he sure was entertaining to watch! :)

I thought I was the only one that didn't like this resort. I only lasted 2 hours before we moved to Akl. The worst thing was we were only booked for 1 night, and I couldn't make it that long.

Lol, well 4 hours in total  We checked in--we were running a little late to get to our lunch reservation--get alllllllllll the way to the room that was in the back corner of nowhere, open our chipped paint door. There's a dresser drawer on the floor, towels and soap in the tub, garbage in the bathroom garbage can, and the jesters on the bedspread were staring at me. I couldn't stop thinking about the jesters. We didn't have time to mess around so we just dropped our stuff and went to HS. I was silent and he knew I was having a panic attack about the room and the resort. I had switched back and forth between there and CSR and I'm like--we should have went with CSR. I didn't enjoy my lunch--all I was thinking about were that the jesters were going to stare at me when I would sleep  So, we play in HS, get back to the resort to change into our California Grill clothes, and I send him back to the room and told him I have business to attend to. I went to the front desk with my camera phone and they told me they were full and couldn't move me--I said--oh well that's great, because I'd like to go to CSR if available. I had to go thru 3 unfriendly, eye rolling people before they had a van ready for us to go :yay: I called Dave and said, "pack'er up! we're going to Coronado" It was 100% amazing there--they gave us free drink coupons for our engagement too!--we were so happy and sooooo glad we didn't sleep with the jesters. Now that they're gone (new bedspreads) I'm wondering if I should give it another try... but I doubt it.
