My positive Boardwalk Inn CL review & my very negative Beach Club CL review

Hey everyone I am not home just yet. My family and I left WDW this morning on our way back to Toronto and we are at a Courtyard By Marriott in Dalton, Georgia. Anyway here is my reviews for our Club Level stays at the Boardwalk Inn and Beach Club.

Boardwalk Inn
First things I have to thank JJ, Jackie, Anita, Lorenzo, Linda, Janice, Tiffany, Scott, Pete and Joe for being the best Club Level Cast Members WDW has. They all make us feel right at home and I consider them my family.

We had reserved a Deluxe Room and our request to have it on the fourt floor was meet. We were in room #4225 which was right over the Boardwalk Bakery and had an amazing view.

Check-in was perfect and Pete personally came into our room which is where that process was done. One thing that we happen to see on a rainy night was Brian the magician that always dresses in purple, coming into the lounge and doing his act up there.

Basically I have come to the conculsion that the Boardwalk Inn is now my favorite WDW Resort.

Beach Club
I am sorry to say that this part of my review will not be a good one so I appologize in advance to any Beach Club fans.

I have to say their Club Level was horrible. Very rude and cold Cast Members at check-in and the ones who work in the lounge watch over everyone until they are ready to clear the plates off the tables.

For example the Cast Member who checked us in saw we had just stayed at the Boardwalk and made a joke that their best quality is they face the Beach Club. I realize he was making a joke but we didn't think it was funny.

It was just a horrible experience that the next day on September 1st we decided to switch back to the Boardwalk Inn, which we did and got to stay in the room we previously had. So it goes without saying we are never again going to stay at the Beach Club.

Next WDW vacation
We were lucky enough to get the 40% Annual Pass rate and reserved the Standard Club Level Room at the Boardwalk Inn from December 8th - December 22nd, 2011.

It's possible the Pete you had at BWI is the same Pete others speak so highly of at the BC. I know there can be more than one person with the name but its possible he either transferred over or was picking up extra shifts.

I know Pete from the BWI Club level & he only stay at that resort. He prefer it at the BWI. There are many Pete's as you said though. But the Pete from the BWI doesn't move around :)

That's exactly what I was going to say because Pete at the BWI Club Level has mentioned to us how he enjoys working there.

He was there when we were there quite a few years ago! Probably in his 50s and with a moustache? He was the friendliest cast member I think I've ever met :cloud9:

I would say you are correct about his age, although he didn't have a moustache because male Cast Members are not allowed to have them while they are working.

Yes we felt like giving it one day was good enough of a chance and I know we aren't the first set of guests to check-out early and move to another WDW Resort after one day. So if we came to the conclusion we weren't going to enjoy the Beach Club why shouldn't we leave early when we have the chance and move back to a resort we enjoyed staying at.
Nope, you're not the first to switch after just one night:rolleyes1

Last summer, we switched to the CR after just one night of an 8-night stay at the YC/CL. We've also switched from the Poly after a couple of nights of an 8-night stay and in July, we canceled the Poly/CL portion of our split stay (8 nights) a day AFTER we checked-in to the WL/CL so that we could instead stay 12-nights at the WL.

I'm a very detail oriented person with high expectations. We pay a lot to stay at a WDW Resort and we pay an added premium for CL. I expect to be treated as a valued guest and I also expect that the amenities associated with both CL and non-CL rooms be present. I would have also noticed the phone book was missing and the robe and the unfriendly attitude and the CM not escorting me to my room and CMs staring at me while I ate and guests rushing toward the food. I would have noticed because I would consider it unusual since at the WL/CL, for example, these things have never happened to me.

I don't believe that all WDW Resorts and all WDW CLs are created equal. While some may discount CRRF4L's observations or take his observations as a personal attack on their choice of staying at the BC/CL, I don't and I appreciate him posting them and I appreciate staying where the details DO matter to management, such as at the Old Faithful Club at the WL and I am now eager to try BWI's CL. I believe a resort that misses the mark on the small details, can't help but also miss the mark on the bigger details;)

Facial Hair

It’s tough to find a picture of Walt Disney without a mustache, but for decades it was even tougher to find a Disney employee who had a ‘stache of his own. Starting in 1957, workers at Disney parks were not allowed to have long hair, grow beards, or wear mustaches. (The underlying logic was that park patrons wouldn’t want to buy a $9 soda from some filthy bearded hippie or mustachioed Snidely Whiplash type.) In 2000, Disney was having trouble drumming up enough manpower to staff its parks, so it relaxed the facial hair ban. Employees were finally allowed to grow mustaches, provided they kept them trimmed and groomed. Beards didn’t fare so well, though; they stayed on the forbidden list.

I realize those things might not seem like weird reasons however you didn't experience it the way we did and it's hard to explain it on a message board. so I wrote it the best way I could.

You don't have to explain it anyone. You have your reasons and you have the option of staying wherever you like. Enjoy your time at BW.

I think everyone needs to stop making light of OPs quibbles with the BC. It's not them so let it be.

BC lovers... You now have less competition for rooms. I think you should be happy.

I've been known not to go back to a restaurant because I didn't like the glass the drink was served in. What does it matter to anyone else why I don't like it. I just don't.

Now I'll agree that OP asked for it a little by posting. But its getting a little out of hand.

Don't forget I never said for anyone else not to stay Club Level at the Beach Club, because if people enjoy it then go ahead and stay there. Now while my review might seem like a personal attack I wasn't flaming anyone who liked staying there, all I said was what we found wrong with it and that we will never stay there again.

Also my review isn't the first negative one about a specifc resort and it won't be the last. I mean there have been a lot of times when I read negative reviews about the Contemporary because of their theme or conventions they host. I even have read some of those few negative Boardwalk Inn Club Level reviews. However I didn't flame those people for what their experience was, so that shouldn't be happening to me based on my personal opinion.

But with all due respect, when you post a thread about how terrible the service was, and then list your specifics as them giving you the CL speech at check in (even though you have stayed CLbefore), missing robes and a phone book and the like, what do you expect others to think? While these clearly were issues to your family, they clearly are not to others.

If you are going to criticize something, be prepared for a rebuttal from those with opposite experiences. Just as you are allowed to state why you don't like it, others can state why they do like it. If you feel your attacks weren't personal in nature (and I, for the record, don't feel that they were), then why are you taking the rebuttals so personal?

Actually the standard for men's facial hair changed - I think it was last year sometime (2010).

Here it is:
http://profinterns.disneycareers.com/en/about-disney-professional-internships/the-disney-look/

Face
For all male cast members, a fully grown in, well-maintained mustache is permitted, provided that it is neatly trimmed and does not present an unkempt appearance.
Mustaches must not extend onto or over the upper lip and must extend to the corners of the mouth, but not beyond or below the corners.
Aside from mustaches, cast members are expected to be clean-shaven every day. Beards, goatees and any extreme mustache styles are prohibited.
Sideburns should be neatly trimmed, straight and even in width, and are permitted to extend to the bottom of the earlobe. They should blend naturally from the hairline and from the length of hair on the head. Flares or muttonchops are not permitted.

I also mentioned that the missing robes was not the fault of the BC CL Cast Members.

As for the missing phone book I just found that odd and nothing more then that.

The rolling eyes and sighing should be enough to label it terrible customer service.

I think those two things alone make it worthwhile to move. When you're in club level you're not just paying for the room, you're paying for exceptional service if not acceptable.

The robes may not seem like a big deal, but the fact it wasnt in the room shows their lack for detail and preparation for the arriving guests. Not to mention when you check out of the room if you had not made mention that it was missing prior to you using the room, they'd assume you stole it.

Psshhhhh.... I didn't even last a night at POFQ :lmao: I was there for 4 hours before moving to Coronado

I thought I was the only one that didn't like this resort. I only lasted 2 hours before we moved to Akl. The worst thing was we were only booked for 1 night, and I couldn't make it that long.

Another land speed resort changing record:thumbsup2

Very well said.

And thanks for the link re. facial hair. I don't know why in the world I remembered that cast member as having had a mustache?
