My nephew was almost kidnapped!!!

Wow! I'm glad he's okay and so observant of what the person looked like!

Glad he is okay and did well under pressure. Hope they catch the guy and throw the book at him.

Wow, how scary. What a special kid to be able to think so well and be so observant under those circumstances.

I am glad your nephew is ok!

Please let this be a reminder to all parents to watch their kids!

At our bus stop a mother lets her 4yr old , pre-K son walk home from the bus almost every day. I just do not understand it.

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

Glad your nephew is safe and was sensible enough to do the right thing - what a scary world!

I feel sick to my stomach at your story. Thank God he is ok and knew what to do.

Desnik, I'm glad your nephew is fine and he knew what to do. My daughter and her friend had the scare of a lifetime last summer when someone that lives in my community and knew me from work, saw them riding their bike in the road in the back of my house , she pretended to want to kidnapp them , my daughter did not know them at all and she and her friend got so scared that they ran home in their bikes as fast as they could and started screaming. They got a description of the vehicle and part of the license plate , it was all reported to the police . When the vehicle was found , the neighbor told the police that she and her friends were joking ! I don't think my daughter will ever forget that incident!
Now my youngest who is 7 now, I sound like a broken record.....a stranger comes up to you for any reason at all , what do you do? I know I know mom, run and scream stranger stranger . I keep drilling that in her head!
My oldest is 11 now...I still take her to the bus stop , and I will continue to do so until I feel she's old enough, will that be 18?

Desnick, I live in Rockland, about 5 minutes from the Palisades Mall. It is indeed very scary to walk through that parking lot alone. I now avoid it all costs. If my husband or a friend can't go with me, I don't go. I am so glad that your nephew is ok.

Oh my, that is a parents worst nightmare. Thank goodness your nephew knew exactly what to do. So glad that he is safe.

So glad to hear he is safe. Smart kid to scream and run.

Two thumb's up for your nephew, what a smart kid! Good for him for doing the right thing, *and* being observant as well!

I'm proud of your nephew, too. I'm so glad that he is safe.

That's so scarey! I'm glad your newphew is safe and that he knew what to do.

So glad your dear nephew is at home now safe with your sister. When you think about what they could have been going through it makes you realize just how lucky they are. Hope everyone tells him what a great job he did, and I pray that they will find this man before he succeeds in trying to grab another child.

Thank goodness he's safe and thank goodness he knows what to do. I keep telling my kids to yell "this is not my mom (or dad)" although "stranger" is more to the point, I think I'll use that in the future.

This happened to me when I was a kid. I was walking to school when I was very young, in the 60's, and a man stopped and told me he was a friend of my Dad's, tried to get me to get in his car. I was afraid and took off running. Told my parents and I remember that my grandmother walked me to and from school after that. My kids are so open and friendly. I tell them a version of this story emphasizing that the man was NOT telling the truth, my Dad didn't know this man and he might have hurt me - so you can't tell who is nice and who isn't just by the way they act or look. You never go with a stranger.

It scares me to death. I don't know how people can hurt children. When I got older I realized that I came face to face with real evil. It breaks my heart when a child is taken by a predator.

I'm going to pray to keep all our children safe.

How terrifying--I am so glad your nephew is OK! It is so wonderful when kids remember what to do about strangers, and he even was able to get a good description. What a relief that he is allright.
