My Name Is NOT Broccoli!

Hi there! I've still been reading along, even though I haven't been commenting.

I just wanted to share this article that I read yesterday. It is about the baby gorilla, and I found it to be quite fascinating. Apparently, she is half the size she should be for her age, and they have been doing all kinds of tests and therapy with her. It amazes me the things they are doing for her! I wonder if this is the reason she seems a little bobble-head(ish)?

Also, it says her name is Lilly. I think someone said they were told by a CM that they can't tell her name. I guess they didn't tell the reporter at the newspaper that!

Sounds like Lilly almost has "failure to thrive". She is in the best possible place to get diagnosed and treated.

Thanks for the update on Caleb -- I hope he continues to improve.

Ah, the famous bin of Yetis! Two of them snuck home with us on a previous trip.

What an interesting article about Lilly! Poor baby! I think it is so fascinating that although she is not growing and developing as fast as she should, her mother is still right there helping her along. :goodvibes

Prayers for all of our friends in need. :grouphug:

Ahhh, her name is Lily....so cute!
Thanks for sharing the article about her. Very interesting.

HAVE A GREAT DAY LADIES! :cool1: Off to work I go.....brrr it's cold outside.

Memom, just jumping on my daughters laptop and catching up. Family of the day. Woot.
I love me some AK, yes i do.
Laying on the ground and picture taking sometimes results in pictures that are envy worthy, lay away i say. :
On to other things, the tumble monkeys are very 'muscular'.

And to those fellow friend disser's who need the prayers, i just sent some up for you. Sometimes we feel like life is just kind of taking over, then we hear of how some are going thru so much worse, so my prayers ended today with a thank you. I hugged all my children today. They hugged me back. Life is good.

On with the show ladies......

KIM

We'll be moving on through AK in just a few minutes. If I lived near WDW, this is a park I would visit often.

True, we can feel sorry for ourselves on any day, but then look around and decide there others going through so much more.

Looks like a fun day at AK!!! Yay for family of the day!!

We did have fun. Other than ITTBAB scaring Janessa, everything else was grand. :)

Thank you for sharing that. I love reading things like that! An older male CM is the one who told me they would not tell the names. He said they didn't want people calling the names out to the animals, because then they wouldn't listen as effectively to the trainers when they worked with them. That's just what he said. I really don't know.

I read an article a long time ago, I think from the organization over all Florida zoos, and it said WDW rated excellent in their animal care. This was after some accusations about something to do with the holding pen of the big animals - white rhino, etc. - that you see from the train as you go out to Rafiki's.

Thanks for the update on Caleb -- I hope he continues to improve.

Caleb's dad said he left Atlanta with six goals, and he has reached five of them. When they go back, they will create a new set of goals. He also talked about how this had affected the entire family, as they do have two other sons who need their time, too.

The last report I saw on the news a little while back said that it had been determined that the rock that hit him probably was pushed off by someone rather than just fell off. That sadly means someone was really not thinking at all, but that action changed other lives forever. Think about what they have to live with now, knowing what they did to that little boy.

I thought of you guys when I posted the Yeti picture.

I'll have to ask questions about Lilly when we go next month. We'll see what the CM that is present has to say.

Prayers for all of our friends in need.

This is my last day of a very long and unexpected vacation. I will make it half productive and half fun. :goodvibes

Making out way out of Animal Kingdom.

I think one day I will buy one of these. They fascinate me, for some reason.

Ouch!

Some Disney for Halloween.

Some Disney for Christmas/winter.

We have not eaten at either RFC in WDW. We ate at the one here in Nashville before it was flooded. I don't know if we will ever get one back here now that the mall may not open back up. That makes me sad, because it did give us a tiny reminder of Disney World whenever we went to visit our hippo.

SSRStayOct2010329.jpg

My, what big eyes you have!

SSRStayOct2010330.jpg

This is a fun place to shop.

We stopped at the shop that is right outside the gates. Jill was looking for a pillow pal for Brooklynn.

We had our sights set on going to DTD.

Browsing through this store makes me want to have about a dozen themed trees in my house.

I had planned to buy Rex, but money was tight, so I later opted for something cheaper. Look how cute he is with his little ears and Mickey bar!

Ohhh poor little Lily :sad1: When I saw her in October I thought she was very active and curious as a young gorilla would be :confused3 Her mother was never out of sight though and she was a bit stumbly then again it was on a hillside? Well I am sure she is getting the best care available

Your Rainforest frog eyes made me laugh this morning

Happy to hear the update on Caleb. I know that it isn't easy for the family to go through this, but so wonderful to hear that he is improving.

Wow to be out for a whole week for snow. We got none, which is not surprising being in south Louisiana.

So, I am now realizing that we were at AK that day as well.:confused3 I don't think we crossed paths at all though. Glad we did the next day!:thumbsup2 How excited to be chosen as a family of the day, you all certainly had breakfast in style! I think the more times I see FoTLK the more I love it. Guessing we've never been in the shop with all the EE merchandise. Putting that on my list for next time!

As always I'm enjoying the virtual trip to warm and sunny FL. It is sunny here but very, very cold.

Very interesting story on the gorilla. I didn't see her on my last visit so hopefully I'll see her this time!

I just love shopping at Disney... is there anything better? :goodvibes

Enjoy your last day of surprise vacation, MeMom!

Family of the Day!! That was a nice surprise. I did not realize they serve breakfast either.

I love House Hunters!! I catch the reruns at 7:30 & sometimes tape the new shows. They are on at 10:00 on Thursdays here.

I LOVE those adorable Pooh & Eyeore with their PJ's on. So cute!!

What a great day you had in AK! :) I'd have to say that in the treats picture, the frozen banana is my favorite. I didn't think I would like it but it was pretty yummy. DTD is way fun. Too many choices! :) Rex with his ears and Mickey Bar is adorable.

Now I feel bad for making fun of that big headed baby gorilla. Poor thing! Who knew?:flower3:

I agree about the Rex ornament. I picked it up more than once but just couldn't justify the price. It is awfully cute though.

Harper is over today, we've baked oatmeal walnut cranberry cookies, played and read books. Now she's riding the rocking bear....

Last but not least I'd like to invite you over to the new trip report. Let's hope I get this one finished!

The link is in my siggie!

Always love the 12 days of Christmas store! That Rex ornament is too cute :cutie:

Are you guys getting overwhelmingly excited that you will be in our happy place again next month?!

Great AK day! I love those bead animals too but they were a bit pricey for me. I think they sell keychains and I might grab one of those when we eat at Boma this summer.

Glad to hear good news about Caleb.:goodvibes

Back to school tomorrow. I could go for another day off! I've been sick for a few weeks with a cough and finally went to the doctor today. Bad case of bronchitis (almost pneumonia :scared1:). She fussed at me for waiting so long to come in... I reminded her of what I did for a living... Combined with the stomach bug I had yesterday and I am ready for a fun day off!

Have a good week!

I love all the Animal Kingdom photos. I am counting down the days until I will be at AK taking by own pictures.

I have started my wish list of things I might need to bring home. It is nice to dream.

I love the picture of Eeyore and Pooh in the little PJ's! Too cute!

When I was at the mall last week with Charles and our friend, we stopped in Rainforest Cafe just because Charles wanted to see the big tank with all the tropical fish. Something about ours smells like something, somewhere, in Disney and I was walking around trying to sniff deeply without it making too obvious what I was doing :rotfl2:

I really like those beaded animals, too. I actually got a keychain one when I went to the aquarium with Christine because I thought it was cute. I also really like the wooden animals that they sell in the pyramid in Mexico (only on the DIS can you write something like that and people understand what you mean...), but I've never been able to justify the prices :faint:

I just can't get over how much snow you guys have gotten! And your temps are colder than ours! :confused3:confused3:confused3 Although, tonight is chillyyyyyy out there, brrr! We walked over to Burger King for an extra healthy dinner, then to Starbucks for a coffee-treat and we were FROZEN by the time we got home. Good thing our landlord keeps our heat around 103 degrees. :upsidedow I hope it is warmer there now! It's supposed to warm up here soon, and hopefully that will melt the small piles of snow left.

I really enjoyed all your updates - the pictures from the Boneyard are very fun. We just love that place.

Isn't the walk from SSR to DTD beautiful? We really enjoyed that when we stayed there. It's such a pleasant and quick walk to all the fun on the other side of the water. I've only been inside the Christmas store once, methinks I need a closer look next time!

I know that Trent didn't have a Jalepeno pretzel, but the picture of his pretzel and the fact that he was at AK having the pretzel has me wanting a Jalepeno pretzel.

Me too! :rotfl:

Thank you once again for shopping pics!!! I can't wait to get to the 12 Days of Christmas store! :dance3: I agree with you in that I could have many themed trees, if I had the room AND the money.
The scenery along the river is beautiful. I'm going to miss riding the ferry this summer. It's such a nice little ride from POR to DTD. I like it better than riding the bus.
On another side note I just found out today that Disney no longer does Disney dollars! I guess that shows how long it's been since I've planned a REAL trip to Disney. I had to by a gift card. Hopefully the Disney store lady was right and that I can use it at Disney.
