My mother says she'll never trust me again

OK, here's my dilemna. I have a son who'll be 7 who loves BTMRR, Space Mtn, and thinks Splash is good too, but is always a little intimidated at first when viewing the final plunge at splash. Once he rides it, he wants to do it again. He does not really like Dinosaur at AK. Thinks the ride is much to jerky (I agree) and isn't keen on the dino breathing down on him.

SO....do we EE or not??? Looking at the newest UG front cover w/ EE I think, no way, he's going to take 1 look at that plunge and chicken out. But if I get him on it (stating how he feels the same way about Splash but always enjoys it) will he be totally freaked by the Yeti? I know, who can really say. I've prepared him that the yeti will be chasing the car like the dinosaur does....but I just don't know. How scary is the yeti????

DS8 rode BTMRR, SM, Splash MTN at age 5 with no problems. When we went in June we rode EE first because of all the hype about it and we didn't want to wait in line of course. He was ok until we stopped at the top where the track is broken and you can hear the Yeti. Then you start backwards in the dark and from then on he was screaming to get him out of there. He was terrified to the point of being hysterical. You see the Yeti but he does not chase you. Because of this scare he didn't want to go on any "dark" attractions the rest of the trip although we did convince him to go on Splash MTN.

I personally didn't think EE was scary at all. The backwards part gave me a little motion sickness but after walking the Maharaja Jungle Track I was back in business. My advice would be to ride it yourself first and then you can judge what your son might feel.

I think this is the key part that makes the ride so different from person to person: how the backward Gs affect you.

You are so right about that! My sister screamed her head off during Space Mountain (said she thought she was going to get decapitated) doesn't enjoy BTMRR, yet she loved EE and found the backwards part "relaxing" :lmao:

Me? I felt disoriented during the backwards part, and a tiny bit nauseous for a couple of minutes after getting off. Don't get me wrong, I loved EE and hope to do it again, but found nothing relaxing about the ride!

Thank you. THe more I read about this, and think about my son, the more I'm thinking we might wait another yr, or 2. Why put him on something that could really ruin the day...or trip. :confused3 It's like me dd, just shy of 40" but passes easily w/ sneakers or sandals. She's eager to try all those "new" rides...and I'm ok w/ some...but Tower of Terror...I want her to be 40" or more on her own completely for that ride. I just think if she doesn't like it after the first drop, she's going to be going nuts, and there will be several to MANY more drops after. Soooooo, unless the 2 of them seem very brave and sure at the park...I just don't think so.

As for me...Bonine all the way!!! Dramamine makes me drowsy but not the Bonine. It's great!!
